I have noticed a number of suggestions for those of us on a budget (all of us?) that a 1055 and a power amp to run the fronts is a similar sounding and better alternative to a 1065 receiver, and not that dissimilar to a 1066-1075 combination. My understanding is that with multichannel audio, equal power and equal sized speakers are preferable in order to take full advantage of the surround audio. If this were true, I would think that the 1066-1075 would be far preferable to the receiver-amplifier combination. Does anybody have any experience to comment on this?

(1) Given a universal player like the Denon DVD2900 with fixed crossover 80Hz for bass mgmt, is it likely preferable to perform bass mgmt on the Rotel (with adjustable crossover frequency) or to leave the BM to the Denon?

I am strongly considering Rotel for my new HT setup due to the numerous positive reviews I read about it. Currently, my plan is to run Paradigm Studio 60 fronts, Studio CC and Studio ADP surrounds using either a Rotel 1066 + 1075 set-up or a 1055 set-up in a 25’ x 20’ room.

That is, stick with the RSX1066, or exchange it for the RSX1055/RMB1075 combo? I bought it from Myer-Emco so I can do the exchange with no penalty.

Two days with mynew rsx-1055 and I have several questions. I do need a second amp to power my zone 2. I would like more power on the main channels. Since I have to purchase a second amp for zone 2 and since I got such a great deal on the 1055 (3 months old - traded to my dealer) I was wondering why...
