    New Lexicon Processor

It's been leaked on the SMR Forum and shown at the PARA conference, c'mon Jeremy, you have to share some info on it to the hungry masses!

Buzz, if I leaked anything they would kill me!

On a more serious note, I am sorry to say that this will be my last post on the HTG forum. I am a relatively new Lexicon employee and without knowing it I overstepped my boundaries. A different forum has been the official Lexicon forum for quite some time. Lexicon has limited resources for this kind of thing and keeping up with multiple online forums would stretch them to their limits.

This should not be taken as a slight towards this forum or any of its members. I wish you all the best.

      Hi Buzz

I think "leaked" is a little strong! Stuart did go back to the source to try to get some reliable information, rather than rehash the dealer scuttlebutt that seems to abound on the 'net

Here is the full text of Stuart's posting:

"Many SMR Forum visitors may be aware of the rumours circulating about a new Lexicon home theatre product; some of them have been attributed to industry sources, the CEDIA UK press releases for example, while others can be traced back to consumer speculation and enthusiasm.

Having spent considerable time interrogating various contacts within Lexicon, my sources have unofficially confirmed the addition of two new audio/video multi-channel pre-amp/processors to their line-up, priced at $8,995 and $9,995 MSRP (USD). The two units are identical except one has fully-balanced analogue audio outputs in addition to unbalanced outputs. I’m told that key features include component video switching, a 5.1-channel analogue input, Dolby Digital, DTS, THX Surround EX, Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS-ES (matrix and discrete), and of course, the latest version of Logic 7.

A trade-in promotion for existing Lexicon customers is scheduled to begin 90-days after the new units start shipping. SMR Forums members should be aware that the new processors are an addition to the Lexicon line-up; they do not replace the DC-2 or MC-1.

Lexicon representatives are not prepared to release further details at this time and would therefore appreciate everyone’s patience in awaiting an official announcement before requesting additional information. I’ll post more details within Forum 3 as and when they become available..."

Jeremy, sorry to hear that's how Lexicon feels. I think it's a mistake and extremely short sided, but then I make decisions for htguide.com and catcables.com, not Lexicon. The major point being, we have people that make processor decisions here often. They don't go to some specific "official" support forum before making those decisions. Fact is, they don't want to be in a vaccum to make a decision anyway. They want more public territory so they can hear advantages and disadvantages of a particular product and then compare those features and benefits to other products. They get that here at htguide, whether in the specific clubs, "Club Hopping", or in our general audio areas. When they would need that other forum, might be after they purchased and have specific questions. Not before, IMO.

Thanks for personally caring about this issue. I never saw it as anything personal at all, and I hold no grudge against you. In fact, if you want to post under an assumed name from home without providing industry insider information, I personally have no problem with that. We don't require you to use your own name and we would never release IP information or any other information to anyone without a court order.

Lastly, I truly believe that as an Agent of Lexicon, they should have supported you in what you started here, beyond a 1 week timeframe. Regardless of apologies issued, or regrets given, that's not very fair or respectful of the fine members of htguide.com.

          Jeremy,
It's to bad that you couldn't be here on the forum with our members. I'm the proud owner of a new Tag McLaren AV32R-EX and I'd have to say in part the reason that I purchased it is due to the support of Buzz for the product. Hey, I'm only one customer and I only bought one unit! Good news travels quick though. Best of luck with Lex.

          Rick

Jeremy, although I don't know if you will read this (you may have already been shot by the men in black), I'll offer my two cents.

Lexicon? Limited Resources? I don't there was any financial transactions involved. As I understood it, you were operating with personal time. That doesn't sound like it will tie up too many resources to me.

I suggest you reregister under a nickname and a Hotmail account. What you do with your time is your business. Your ability to share your enthusiasm and opinions about our hobby is a personal freedom. I don't think this is being dishonost.

You don't have to divulge Lexicon information in order to be a supporter of the hobby. I'd be interested to pick your brain on other subjects.

Lexicon MC-12 and high end processors, you pay for the name.
              by Asahikasei
People always assume that high end high priced audio will be superior in every aspect to your standard receiver, this can be true when dealing with analog 2CH setups but in home theater it is not. High end companies either do a direct rebadged and sell it for a huge profit or they design their own but...

              Buzz from tweeters?..Possible Cause?
              by Britchie
As a new owner of Rotel gear I am quickly becoming very passionate about getting the best possible performance from my new system (1098 w/1095). I choose not to call myself an audiophile since I am a novice and still have a lot to learn.

Anyway, enough about me, the point of this post...
