    RDC-7 SGHT Editor's Choice

I just received my January 2002 issue of Stereophile Guide to Home Theater which is the Products of the Year Editors Choice edition.
In the Surround-Sound Processor category the RDC-7 won the Gold Award. Bested only by the Lexicon MC-12 ($9,995) which won the Platinum Award. Not too shabby !

You must live next door to SGHT's printing plant -- seems like I just got my December issue :>) Anyway, thanks for sharing the news about the Editor's Choice Awards -- I'm looking forward to reading their write up. Of course, we all knew when we bought it that the Integra Research RDC-7 was the best thing since the wheel. :>) (I have to give credit to Integra's Lincoln Palmer for that turn of phrase.) :>) But it is always nice to see that the published professionals agree with us! (And speaking of wheels, the last time I bought Michelins, given their price, they might as well have been made of gold -- I think my RDC-7 was a far better value.) :>)

Not much of a write up, just a 3 paragraph synopsis of their original review in February.
One thing: the write up begins as follows:

"Loaded with just about every feature that you might want save DTS ES and Dolby Pro Logic II (both promised as future upgrades)"....hehehe

Last year SGHT said the same thing about the RDC-7. I haven't got the chance to hear one yet, but I'm very anxious.

The most impressive part about getting the nod for the Gold award is the fact that is was reviewed in February. Most of the time the awards are won by equipment reviewed later in the year - technology moves that fast! Take a look at the last few years, I bet a disproportionate number of winners were reviewed in the last six months as opposed to the first six. To hold onto the "best value" award after a full year of competitive reviews (Feb 2001 is the first month that qualifies for consideration) is very unusual, especially for a processor.
