    Microphone for Lexicon MC-12B...

DOes anybody know what the specs are for the microphones? Can I use the one that came with a Pioneer receiver? I just don't want to have to fork over $850 8O 8O to set it up once. It's a 2003 model that does not have the EQ.

    Thanks,

    Ataim.

What about just using a sound meter? That's what I typically do. I don't know about the specs on the mic, Lexicon is a little expensive on these type things, that's for sure. My MC-12 hasbeen a good unit. Enjoyed it a lot

Doesn't matter what mic you want to use, you still have the nearly impossible issue of getting its calibration curve into the Lexicon. AFAIK, there's no way to do this.

Yep, I've used the 'ol Radio Shack sound meter. I just wanted to see what difference the four mic spl's would look like. Not a big deal, just curious.

          Rear Imaging

Wow...... I just had an incredible experience with the 804S's which are surrounds.

This is tweaking to the max. I have a 5.1 setup.

First, just in 'Stereo' (2 x 802D's) you have to get up from the couch and double check that the center speaker is not on. Thats great imaging....

Reflection free (or minimised) mic setup
          by Dave Bullet
I'd never really paid much attention to mic placement and the boom and clip that holds the microphone. When Andrew Jones suspected I had some mic related ripple in my response, I switched to a long pole boom in line with the microphone. Voila!, ripple greatly reduced. A small pointer for those who want...

So not all Bypass modes sound the same
          by misterdoggy
I haven't had a chance to test the theory, but isn't bypass = bypass. I mean isn't the signal untouched or are there other factors ie: wiring, plugs. I mean there has to be something in order to control volume.

I am about to go bypass mode thru a Pass Labs X1 which the volume control...

Measurement Mic - Audyssey MultEQ microphone?
          by oneoldude
I have a couple Audyssey MultEQ microphones from a couple HT receiver purchases (see pics below). I never gave them a thought. Figured they were junk. But recently, I have read on the net that they are quite quite flat and quite consistent. Unfortunately all I have seen concerns use of the mic for...
