    Audysey Multieq - Something wrong?

I have set up the Audesy EQ on my Integra 9.8 on numerous occasions and havent gotten favorable results. No matter how many times I perform the set up (I have tried from 3 to 8 mic positions within the room) the sound is hollow and un focused with the EQ on.

Listening to music, when I switch between "direct" and "stereo" (stereo with EQ), "direct" produces better imaging, bass response, midrange clarity.

When I defeat the EQ and swtich between "direct" and "stereo" - "stereo" sounds fuller because of the subwoofers, but it sounds much better without the eq.

Also, the Audesy eq puts sets up all my speakers as "full range" even though the center and rears are bookshelf style speaakers. This happens each and everytime I set it up.

I have read praises for the system, so I am thinking there has to be something wrong with either the 9.8 itself or the mic.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Thanks....
Stereo: Revel F208, Parasound JC2, JC1's, Oppo HA-1, VPI, Dynavector, Moon

    HT: B&W 802D2, 805S, HTM4, Marantz, OPPO BDP95, Velodyne DD-12's

HP / secondary system: Woo Audio W2, Carver Sunfire, Kef LS50, Denon, and too many headphones to list

You need to read through the 'official' Audyssey thread on AVS where one of the developers of Audyssey hangs out. There are many subtleties involved in this process. For example, you undoubtedly need to over-ride the speaker size setting since that is dictated simplistically by Integra and is not the really recommended Audyssey setting.

I figure that this is a smart group of audiophiles and we might even have a few electrical engineers. Would some one be willing to look and listen to all of these and tell us which is best?

Question on setting up an Onkyo TX-SR805:

I’ve had my receiver for about two weeks now. It sounds great for movies, but when listening to music the stereo image is off center to the left. For example, the person singing does not sound like they are in the center of the sound stage,...

Cirrus Room Correction in the New C3, HDP70, HDR77 Controllers

I think this is going to become an emphasis discussion topic in the future, so I'll start a dedicated thread to it.

As mentioned in the other thread with info on the new upcoming controllers, they will not have Audyssey MultiEQ processing that is somewhat prevalent in today's market....

      One more upgrade than planned

As a "family Xmas present", the living room 2003 Sony Trinitron 32" SDTV (weighing in at 200lbs) was replaced by a 43" 4K LG 43UM7300 (weighing in at 20lbs). It's an entry-level TV, nothing spectacular about it but it well-rated for gaming (so my 14-year-old son is happy), it works...

Is there any receiver that is transparent for stereo?

In the past I have owned multiple AV receiver. Onkyo, Rotel, Marantz.
I sold my last AV received back in 2013. At that time, I was running a Marantz Pre-Amp (not an AV receiver) with Emotiva 5-channel amp.
