Bi wire on the A51 - anyone tried?

    Hi guys,

I have BW speakers and was advised to bi-wire for maximum effects.

Therefore, has anyone bi-wire with the A51? how did you do it? the binding post are so close that it needs a surgeon's hands...

    What would you recommend?

I have the 2205AT, which is very similar to the A51.
The binding posts are indeed very close to each other, and I wouldn't recommend bi-wiring without the use of insulated banana plugs.
    I use Kimber 4TC + 8TC, giving a combined gauge of 8, which is a lot
To get all that wire (it's very stiff too) into the bindingposts I use WBT-0645 insulated locking bananaplugs.
The fronts and center are bi-wired with 8TC + 4TC, and the rears are single wired but also using (less expensive) insulated banana's (non-locking).

Bi-wiring is definately recommendable for B&W's, especially the 800 series.
    I use the 804 + HTM2 + 805 btw.

      Thanks!

      DrBoom,

I presume you could get all these for Kimber?

ps/ I am considering the N802+HTM1+602s. Will mate the speakers with the A51. what do you think? The JC1s are out of my budget at present.
Incidently, the sales person was also trying very hard to sell me the Jeff Rowlands Monos(the 200 watters and the 500watters) to pair with the N802..

      Cheers.

I'm not sure what you mean by this actually ?

The Jeff Rowland M201 and M501 look nice, but I've never heard them.
Aren't these class D amplifiers or something like that, seeing as they weigh less than 10 kg.
How much do these things cost ?
Looks a lot more expensive than a JC1, or am I wrong ?

I think the A51 is capable of driving the 802, but there's always better ofcourse.
I know one guy who used to have an HCA3500 driving his 802's and switched to the JC1's.
And I have seen others use the 3500 as well for the 802's, and they work great together.
I'm sure the A51 will do just fine as well, though I could imagine the 802 improving with an even more powerful amp.

I meant getting the cables from Kimber-my poor grammar

          DrBoom,

Yep, the M201 cost about USD4k, while the M501 cost USD6k.
The sales person was saying that it is not Class D while I thought it was. The website also mentions that the amps are not class D.

Have to admit those little things look real good and it would be a waste to mount or hide it away in a rack.

My listening level is not loud compaed to many out there and would presume the A52 would work pretty well with the N802? Or even better with a N803?

Do you mate the 1098 with a Parasound amp as well? How do they do?
          Cheers.

I heard biwiring to amp must be done cleanly and carefully,
Who has good photos on how this is done?

            biwiring B&W speakers....?
            by BlazeMaster
Hi, I've had my 600s series for a while and just noticed something today on the websites user manual section. I had them birwired since this June and just noticed the part where they showed that the gold bars or links that connect the post should be removed when biwiring. I've had my linked for about...

Biwiring Your B&W's - worth it?
            by Karma
            HI All,
I'm just curious how many of us have biwired our systems. Those who have done so, what are your conclusions?

My system, with 805S's and HTM4S in the front are biwired. These are only the second set of speakers I have owned that permit biwiring. The first were Apogee Calipers...

            A51 transformer hum...Need power conditioner?
            by jeweltone2002
            Hi,

I recently purchased the A51, and I am getting a hum from the transformer. The hum comes directly from the A51 unit and not through the speaker (it's not a ground loop problem). I send the A51 back to Parasound for repair and they replaced the transformer (very good technical support...

            Parasound C2 with the A52 or A51 or 1205A ???
            by john4618
I'm getting a Parasound C2 and want to know which amp to use, the A51 at 250 watts RMS x 5 –or- the A52 at 125 watts RMS x 5 –or- should I just use my 1205A that I already have ???

I can't demo these so I have some questions:

            1. I’m told that my 1205A is a little...
