    A51 Auto Turn-on just plain doesn't work :(

A51 connected to pre outs of Denon 4802. No matter what the sensitivity is set to, I can't get the Auto Turn-on to flip the unit on. I've seen other posts about this, but it seems like it really should work. Even if there's signal on all 5 channels (DD 5.1 input signal), nada.

Has anyone gotten this to work? What's the trick?

I think what you're forgetting is the 12 volt trigger. The chord looks like a mini stereo plug, and one should be supplied with the amp. Ond end goes into the A51's "12 volt input" hole, and the other end goes to the Denon's "12 volt output" or "trigger" hole...that is, assuming the Denon has such a feature, which I'm pretty confident it does. It is this unimposing chord alone that will switch your amp on and off, not the preouts.

If in the case you lost it, you can always get one at radio shack. Ask them for:

I'm having the same issue with my A52. The jack on the back is a sub-mini 3/32" jack. Not 1/8th. Will a mono mini cable work, or does it have to be stereo mini? I tried the 12V trigger (control) from my Marantz. I tried adjusting the trigger output sensitivity but that didn't work.

Then I tried to get it to turn on with the auto-sensing and it'll work 1% of the time. If the volume is not high enough the amp will just shut off. I'll just settle for Manual untill I get the new Parasound pre/pro coming out in December. If it doesn't work then I'll be upset.

the sensitivity worked fine for me as far as turn on, but with quiet passages, the amp would shut down. I resorted back to the trigger so when the c2 gets turned on, I have the amp turn on 3 seconds later.

Where did you hear about this? Where can I find some info/articles or whatever on this?

Not true at all. Page 9 of the a51 manual describes how to do this with the switch set in the Audio position (not 12v). I just can't get it to work. I'll try the 12v cable next.

You're right, my mistake. But I think you'll have more success with the 12 volt trigger.

Yes, very interesting post about the "new pre-pro". More, please!

I am not allowed to comment specifically, but any "new pre-pro" would NOT be in the Halo line any time soon. Nonetheless the Classic Line is long overdue... :T

All I CAN say is that if you're looking for a $3K processor that has all the latest bells and whistles, you might want to see what's coming from Parasound. Although, the Halo units will still be the top of the line offerings for years to come.

Any other questions please email me at huskins@charter.net

I can't comment any specifics here in a public forum.

bhuskins, tell whomever has your ear that I won't buy a Halo pre/pro until it has DVI/HDMI switching. Not gonna sink $4k into something that will have to be replaced in a couple of years.

hi all i have a23 and use with denon 3802 which does not have 12v trigger connection, i tried auto sensing , my normal level for 2 channel is about 30db on 3802 volume display, found that a23 would turn on at about 35db , but in a quite passage it would shut off,

was advised by dealer not to bother with auto sensing as it can send a burst of sound to speakers when it engages, so i do not bother to use auto sensing .

My 4802 has a trigger, but i'm not sure if it's a 12v trigger. the jack certainly doesn't match up. I'll have to read up on it.

In order to use trigger you must use mono cord with proper plugs. If you use stereo cable then trigger won't work. I have Pioneer receiver and Halo A21 connected via Parasound power cord and sub-mini to mini adapter ($3) for Pioneer and 12V trigger works perfect.

I have an external amp I would like to use with my RX1050 stereo receiver - using the RX1050 as a pre-amp. I am using the pre-out to connect it to the amp and it is working well. However I cannot get the 12 volt trigger to work. Does anyone know what sort of plug the 12 volt trigger out requires? My...

I picked up my brand new RSP-1068 Saturday, replacing an old RTC-970. In the process of hooking everything up, i discovered there are no power outlets on the back of the 1068, so I had no way to trigger my RLC-900 to turn on/off. A quick trip to Radio Shack and 15 minutes with a soldering iron got...

                            Hi all,

Just got a query, i have a Rotel RSP-1066 and i am currently using its 2 12volt triggers for 2 power amps and i just got a third power amp. I was just wondering if i can use a 3.5mm splitter to have 2 3.5mm cables coming out of one 12 volt trigger so i can have all 3 power amps...

                            by HibbardSmith
I'd like to use a 12 v trigger from my Rotel 1098 to a Pioneer DV-45A Elite DVD Player. I can't find any information about Pioneers trigger in. Is this some Pioneer proprietary thing or is it 12 Volt trigger compatible?

I wasn't sure where to post this, but it's really not a Rotel question....

                            hi there all

I'm having some trouble configuring my 12 volt trigger. I want it to drop my pj screen when either the tv or httpc source is selected. I don't want this to happen if the balanced cd is selected.

It seems though, that the 12volt trigger can only select...
