C1 Display (change via remote/16:9 issue?)

Is there any way to program a button on the remote to perform the same function that the "Display > Main" button does on the front of the unit?

I like having the video on there, but I can't read the text when the video background is there and I'd like to cycle through the display options from my remote.

Also, when I run an HD 16:9 video source through there, the 4:3 display stretches the video vertically. The C1 manual states that it would be displayed in letterbox form (but that's not true). Is there a setting for this?
