    A52/A21 feet spacing?

    Hi there,

I am considering a move from my Rotel 1080 and 1075 to the Halo A21 and A52.

I am fully aware that these units are 19" deep but would really appreciate if someone would tell me the spacing between the feet (front to back) as I have only got shelves 13" deep.

Perhaps the wrong question to ask here but I am using the 1080 for stereo fronts and 1075 for all other channels which works well - the seperate power amp for music works wonders! Is the performance difference really worth the money or should I stop reading these forums and enjoy what I have?

I am suffering acute upradeitis and all other forms of symptomatic treatment has failed!

    Regards

Well to answer your first question, the A21 and A52's depth is 19 1/8" and 19 3/4", respectively. BUT...with the power cable attached, you're going to need atleast 20" of depth space for it all to fit properly (unless you don't mind having the face protruding from your shelf). In addition, you have to also account for the overhead space needed to properly let the amps vent. I leave about a foot of space in between my cabinet shelves for this.

For your second question, nobody has ever complained about Rotel's seperates. Their price notwithstanding, they are very clean, neutral and powerful sounding pieces of audio equipment. Now factor in the price, and they are the deal of the century. Ok, maybe Outlaw is. But anyways, the upgrade bug gets the best of us, and it seems it's got you too. So on one hand I would say absolutely enjoy the great components you have already, because there will ALWAYS be bigger and better badboys out there...just think of Passlabs, Mark Levinson, or Krell Master Series. But on the other hand, since you're obviously able to acquire the Parasound's (and it's just a matter of decision), I can tell you first hand that yes, the Halo units will justify the money you're spending on them. And if all the top notch magazine raving reviews aren't enough to convince you, just remember that I haven't met or talked to a single Halo owner that is unsatisfied or even regretful of their purchase.

So I say get them. But just some food for thought. Ever consider the A52 and A23 together, or the A51 and A21 together? In other words, keeping the wattage output the same for all 7 channels?

      Nicholti,

Thanks for the reply! I don't mind some overhang but need to know the distance between the feet - if they are 13" or less from centre to centre then I will still be able to use my rack.

I certainly don't have a problem with my Rotel's and the value for money factor is superb. I think having read many great reviews (and obviously there are those who upgraded from Rotel) that it has got me thinking.

How hot do these amps run - my Rotel 1080 runs hot at idle and when driven though the 1075 never seems to get too warm. I have only got about 2" above each unit to the next glass shelf.

I am almost at that point when I am ready to chuck in reading the forums/reviews etc and spend the next 5+ years enjoying my system - there are many other ways for me to spend my money - 180 year old house needs more TLC! Though home upgradeitis is frightfully expensive!!

Hey Tom, sorry I missed the part where you said you were fully aware they were 19" in depth. I can't really measure exactly the spacing between the feet since I'd have to unplug and pull out the 80lbs things, but using a ruler and my best estimate, the feet are about 13-14" apart, center to center.
