    Halo C-1 up and running

    Well....
    Got back from Korea..
    received new rack..
and setup the Halo with just the 3 front speakers and sub....

    setup the projector...
    it's nice...!

    Anyway...
I setup the Halo C-1 with the HCA-2205A (input level at 50%)
and the sound is soooooooo much different than the AVC-2500 !
it sounds more open...the highs are more distinct
(using M&K S-150 THX in front)

    I'm impressed in the difference...
can't wait to get the rest of the speakers up and running...
waiting for Stands for the surrounds now...

Why did I set the input on the HCA-2205A to 50% ?
It's from the company that makes the Parasound.
I asked them for some tips and this one is one of them...

You should try it out and recalibrate your system...

Wow, that is interesting. Half output eh?! Well, if it works and you are getting superior performance above the previous setup, that's whats important.

I guess half output yeilds better headroom???

Well, congrats on the great sound and new gear.

It will work with the AVC-2500 too

at first I had set it up as per the manual...
and was a bit suprised of the sound...
      it sounded arsh...

after a few E-mails with Parasound...and some research on the web...I found the manufacturers of the DSP board ...and they told me that they had setup the same combination AVC-2500 and HCA2205A at the Lucas Film Ranch...but they had set the levels at 1/2 ..and the sopund was so much better..
With the C-1...it worked just as well....but the sound is kind of more open.
Ok..the location of the speakers is different too...
they are about 7 feet apart instead of 4.

the soundstage sounds so much better
the sound is soo much different...

      amazing.

        T.,

How far away from your front speakers are you sitting?

          I have WAY too much power for this size of Living room ^_^;;;;

I'll post tons of pics once I set my webpage up!

Tonight I'm putting up my MPS2525 ( was waiting for stands to arrive....)
          =)

          So I'll be busy calibrating/taking pics ^_^C

            Congratulations on your C1.

I have been using a C2 in my system since 02/06/03. I am also impressed with the detail of this piece.
I use one of the programmable channels for my tactile transducer arrangement.
            I have it paired with a B&K reference 200.7
I was using an HCA-2205A/HCA1500A combination but I wanted to free up some shelf space.

I used an AVC-2500 with the Parasound amps for about two years.

While waiting for the Halo line to be released I installed a Pioneer VSX-49TX and used it as a pre/pro for about 10 months as the AVC-2500 was getting sound format outdated.

                      T.,

I was asking about the distance to get a idea of envelopment. You have to get those MPS 2525's up so, we open the Halo up! 8)

                        the MPS-2525 are Up!!!!

                        The sound is just amazing...

I posted a few lines in the Front Projection area as I am also using a new Sony HS-10 projector...

the sound has improved so much....
                        1) the front speakers are wider apparrt from each other...
                        2) the center speaker was slightly too low...I put 2 small wood cylinders with Sorbothane in front...and they are pointing EXACTLY where they should..
                        3) I mounted the MPS-2525 2 feet above our heads..against the wall..
                        (special mounting poles)

                        Results......WOW

I've been playing the latest THX Demo DVD and ..wowowowoow
everything blends in ...the soundfield is amazing....

I need to listen to some Jazz....

                        =)

                        Next upgrade?
                        Humm M&K MPS 5430 Sub...When? not sure...
