    Parasound vs Musical Fidelity

    Hi All
    One little Question

Would the Parasound be above Musical Fidelity in brand names, I had the Musical Fidelity A5-5 but had a lot of trouble with it so I changed it for a Rotel RB1080 it was a lot cheaper so that why I did it.

The A5-5 sound quit a bit better then the Rb1080 the Rotel Sound very thin No punch in the sound anyone else notice this.

So my Question is would the A21 Parasound be better then the A5-5 integrated Amp, Am looking to replace my RB1080 with the A21 Parasound and use the RB1080 for my surr speakers.

I know the Parsound it better then the RB1080 Rotel.

    Any Help would be great

    Regards
    Kris

Both pieces are great. However, Musical Fidelity is more expensive and consequently often more highly regarded.

Parasound gives more value for the $$$ spent. (Parasound cuts costs by having the amps assembled in Taiwan).

      Thanks for your replay

When I look at Musical Fidelity stuff it looks more for musical people for music, When I look at the A21 Parasound it looks awesome with the THX Ultra2 sign it looks to be more for Movies.

I play movies 90% and Music 10% so I think Parsound is a good choice for me.

Is Parsound above Rotel or about the same.

I can get the A21 in Australia for $5100 And I would get the A23 for my Center Speaker for $2100 and (bridged mono) to get 400w.

      What do you think

Musical Fidelity products these days are also made in Taiwan. MF has the smooth and savvy designs that can be 8O . I guess both brands should be on the same level. MF is a UK brand and Parasound is a US brand.

Musical Fidelity KW Series are made in the UK.

Krell, Plinius, Bryston, Boulder, Classe, Audio Research, ATC are all made from their company's origin. I guess MF's top of the line products are UK made but their entry to mid level products are all made in Taiwan. A5, 5.5, A3, 3.5 CD players, Int amp, power & pre are all made in Taiwan. The brands that I mentioned earlier should be 1 or 2 level above either MF or PS.

I've heard that Krell is no longer what it used to be...

Parasound is the best bang for the buck IMHO. If I want to burn some extra cash or need the latest high tech features like internet connectivity I would probably go with Classé.

If I won the lottery: Goldmund, Steinway Lyngdorf, or Burmester

No, I no longer have my Parasound gear (C2 + nine JC1 monoblocks). I ended up switching to an all digital system from TacT Audio. The TCS Mk II has advanced room correction and the Boz 216/2200 amps have builtin crossovers that let me do active bi-amping while keeping the singal in the digital domain all the way from the source to the final PWM conversion in the "power DAC" stage of the amp.

Thanks! I finally got some real theatre seating too (Bass Industries' Matinée) and I'm currently relocating the gear to the back of the theater. I will recess everything into the wall by use of two Middle Atlantic slide-out rotating racks that I've rebuilt in solid hardwood.

I will post images once I've finished the installation...

Would the Musical Fidelity A5cr Power Amplifier be more natural sounding then the A21 Parasound, Does anyone know what is the current Peak to Peak is on the A21, I know the A5cr MF is 200amp Peak to Peak.
