    New T.V.

My Panasonic DLP went kaput, (this is a good thing) and I just ordered a Toshiba 52" LCD. I will now have to reprogram my handy Parasound C2 remote control, it appears Parasound is no longer updating the software for these remotes. I tried to download the software for a MX700 from U.R.C. but that was a no go. The serial number on the remote did not register. Looks like I will be manually entering the T.V. commands. Any suggestions.

    Thanks,

    JDB

I guess I will answer my own question, Parasound has not updated the remote software for 2 years. If you were to buy a C2 today that is what you would get. I see brand new C2's are for sale, $3995. Why would anyone buy one? I love my C2/A51 combo but the new Toshiba TV with HDMI makes the C2 seriously long in the tooth. Next upgrade in my sights is the Anthem D2. (Sorry Parasound) Just a small rant as I hook the serial cable to an old PC and the C2 remote and learn the new TV's remote commands. Great remote by the way.

I just saw your post and it reminded me that because my laptop got a virus and I had to completely reload it, and I didn't have the latest MX-700 software either.
I snooped around at the Remote Central website and came across a post that mentioned that URC had "lifted" their restrictions on registering remotes that weren't purchased directly from them.
I first tried with the serial number that was stamped on the sticker. Didn't work. Based on another post I read, I was finally able to get the software by using the "K" prefix (although it wasn't on the label), and then in the two boxes I repeated the serial number in BOTH boxes. Dumb, IMHO, but it worked.
Don't know if I'll actually USE it, but at least I have it.

Shootout : Parasound C2 vs Rotel 1098 (long)
          by DrBoom
Well, it's been almost 2 months now that I've lived with both my Rotel RSP1098 and my Parasound C2 and the time for deciding which I'm going to keep is almost at hand.(not that I HAVE to decide now for some reason, but I'd hate to end up with 2 processors permanently)
I actually own both of them,...

New BIG release from Universal Remote for Parasound MXEditor
          by Chris D
Well, for the heck of it today, I started up my Parasound MX Editor program (the one that allows me to custom program my MX-700 remote that came with my C1) and it downloaded a VERY LARGE update from MX Editor.

It required a restart of the MXEditor program, and when it came back up, it...

          Musical Fidelity Remote control
          by fatswillie123
Just hooked up my Musical Fidelity A5 integrated amp, and realized that their remote is really funky. My Sony, Rm-VL-900 learning remote cannot learn the commands. I read something about some remotes have a parity signal, that changes everytime you use a function. All I know is that you can only use...

MX700 Remote - software "live update" behavior?
          by netarc
So I _finally_ got around to programming my MX700 remote last night (ahem ... it's only been, what, ~2yrs - funny thing is I've been programming clients' remotes right&left, just never seemed to find the time to do my own!).

Have a question re: the MX-Editor software. The Parasound...

          Odd RSP-976 remote issues...and a fix!
          by DrJazz
I just wanted to share an odd experience I've been having with my trusty old RSP-976 surround sound processor. For quite some time now (well over a year, maybe more) I've been having one helluva time with the remote control. Specifically, the 976 would only respond intermittently to volume up and down...
