New Parasound Owner .. Hi all...

Hi, first a word of thanks for this forum. I've intently studied it in the past couple of days. :T

I just pulled the trigger on a Parasound Halo C2.

It will be replacing my Onkyo Integra DTR-7 receiver that has been my pre-pro for a while (Purchased new in 1999)

I'll be pairing it with an Acurus A125 amp, and Klipsch La Scala, KT-LCR (THX center and rears) and KT-SW 15" sub.

For sources I have 2 dvd players, Starchoice HD Satellite, and XM satellite radio.

I'm now gonna quietly go nuts for a while in anticipation as I won't be returning home from a contract assignment till Dec. 19th.

So I"ll be sure to check back next month as I work through getting it set up.

I'm taking a bit of a risk in purchasing this unit sight unseen, but it just happened to be on the market in my home city, so my son can go over to the seller and pick it up in person on Monday, and save any worries about shipping damage.

I've been told that it already has the DPL IIx upgrade, so I'm looking forward to expanding my setup from 5.1 to 7.1.

I have an old NAD 40 watt x 2 receiver with main in jacks. In the short term will it work for side surround duty ? I know it isn't an acurus, but it does definately have a lot of headroom for a 40 watt amp, and my klipsch surrounds are over 95 db efficient ?

Eventually I'll probably pick up an acurus or aragon 2 channel amp for the mains, but for now, I'll be very happy in finally getting to a complete separates setup.

Again, thanks to all who have posted the great info on this site.

    Lyle.

Hey, Lyle, a very big welcome to the Guide and Club Parasound! Another Canuck here in the club. I really think you'll be happy, especially with your La Scala's. I'll be interested to hear your direct comparison between the C2 and the Integra.

As for the NAD for surround power, that's good that you recognize that it's not a solid final product for that duty. But in the meantime, I'd say yeah, you could do it. I wouldn't do any reference surround sound demo or anything.

        Thanks for the welcome guys...

So just to alleviate my wife's concern. I'm assuming that if I find that the parasound doesn't work well in my room, they are still in demand on the used market at around $1900 selling price ?

I really relied on internet information for this one as I have not heard this unit and would never find a dealer with klipsch la scalas in the store any way to compare to my setup.

2nd question, any one experienced Parasound mated with Acurus Amplification ? I have a A125 amp I picked up a couple of years ago, I also have the venerable Denon POA-2800 2 channel amp that I can swap in for comparative purposes. on the main channels.

:T :P h: h:  opcorn: :yesnod: 8x) arty: :righton: :righton: :dothewave: :jawdrop:

          In english:

          First Impressions:

          1. Pretty straightforward setup experience.
          2. Love the Natural sound mode for 2 channel sources. Listening to christmas from satellite audio right now and it sounds fabulous.
          3. DVD movies now have such a sublime presentation: The low noise floor and clean decoding combined with the accuracy of the auto calibration, make for some amazing clarity in dialog and effects.

Will share more later... but for now this is a keeper!

          Lyle.
