Is there something odd going on with Parasound? I don't see the DVD players coming out any time soon either and i was told months ago that they should have been on the website. Anything we should know about the stability of this company or am I just reading into things too much?

I will contact my source at Parasound about the JC2. From what I am told Parasound is very hush hush about all new product developments so that other companies can not copy design elements of their products. I dont completely agree with this however because consumerism drives this industry, but Parasound has always been about doing things right with the utmost quality and not being first on the block.

Gentlemen,

I saw and heard the JC 2 with a friend outside of Chicago (see Stereophile, May issue, page 14) on April 29. I also met and talked to Richard Schram (nice man; Northwestern graduate). The unit is not yet in production. From what I gathered, it may be available this fall. Parasound is still working on the design. I can report that it sounded fabulous. A D3 was also onhand, but it remained boxed up, so I didn't see it. I ventured to the listening session to see and hear the JC 2 (not the Sound Lab loudspeakers, as other visitors had). I don't think we--forum participants, and potential owners--will be disappointed. The JC 2 assumed duties from a Blowtorch in the demo system, and I didn't perceive any significant drop in performance. It also performed flawlessly. I was quite impressed. I own a P/LD-2000, and plan to replace it with a JC 2. My fingers are crossed that Parasound finishes its design and offers this preamp later this year. Patience seems a small price to pay.

I was just a bit upset spotting rumours on a few other forums about "apparent cancellation"... or so of the JC2. Seems to be OK now. BTW, Mr Schram announced the JC2 project plannes (in personal message) more than two years ago, estimating fall 2005 as revealing date.

I wanted to revive this from the dead. Looks like the jc2 will be out soon.

Initial reports were of delivery times in March. April is now the speculation.

Parasound's website still hints "Summer 2007", but who knows.

I read in the CES 2007 review in TAS today that the author of the report was unable to demo the JC2 but was able to test the S/N. He said the JC2 was connected to a pair of JC1's, with no source playing, he turned the volume to max, put his ear on the speaker divers and could not hear any noise... none! WOW!

I bet May at the earliest, August at the latest.

I heard a prototype in the spring of 2006 and liked what I heard. After investigating other preamps, I've decided on the JC 2. Now a waiting game.
