    P3 Sonic Quality v. C2 v. C1 v. 7100

So, I just bought a new house and will have a dedicated audio/HT room for the first time (once I do some work in the basement).

2 channel audio is by far my first priority, but I plan on installing a real HT room for movies.

I like the flexibility of using my own DAC. I don't think I'll be very interested in using the DAC inside a pre/pro.

How does the 2-channel direct analog in of the C1/C2 compare to that of the P3?

Does that feature accomplish the same thing the direct input on the P3 does? (i.e., defeating the tone controls and all other circuitry other than the volume knob and the line stage)

Also, anybody know anything about the two channel ability of the 7100?

I'll probably be comparing the C2 to the Bryston SP2, B&K 50s, and offerings from Arcam.

Oooh, good question, actually. I don't know the answer, but I'd be interested to know how P3 sound quality compares to 2-channel performance of the C1, C2, and 7100.

Let's see if someone here in the Club has both the P3 and one of the other pre/pros to do a direct A/B comparison. Or you can ask Parasound direct... they'll give you a straight answer.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

I don't think that there is any difference in the sonic performance of a C1 and a C2. But don't pin me down on that.

But I know for sure that the sonic of a C2 is a lot better than the sonic performance of a P3. I had a P3 for a year before I upgraded last week to a C2 . The C2 delivers more detail and it has a lot more control over the bass .

Excellent to hear. Do you use direct analog xlr inputs?

Not at the moment, the ones I would like to have cost a fortune  . But we compared the Kimber Hero unbalanced vs. Kimber Hero balanced on the P3. There was no difference in sonic performance, well we didn't notice any difference ops: .

            Parasound JC-2 Press Release
            by Chris D
Parasound has put out a new press release on the JC-2. While you're over there, you may want to check out the rest of their PR website--lots of good info there. New stuff on the JC-2, pictures of the JC-2, D3, and other stuff in the "Photo Library", etc.

            NAD M51 Direct Digital DAC
            by JonMarsh
Just ordered; should be in by Monday. These are just starting to become available in the US. I've been looking for something with above average performance but not over $2K, unlike my last two DACs, which while quite satisfactory from a performance perspective, are rather pricey for most of my friends....

            Small problem parasound 7100?
            by eduardw
I own the parasound 7100 pre and enjoy the pre very much but just recently I’ve noticed some small problems
I used the pre in a 5.1 configuration so I could not use the Dolby prologic IIx sound modes, but a week ago I bought 2 back surround speakers so now I can use also Dolby prologic IIx....

Want To Improve Your RSP-1098's Performance?
            by jimmyp58
I love the sound from my Rotel RSP-1098 as well as all the other features of it. I have been working with an ht consultant that suggested to me that he has sold many a customer upgraded power cords and they have truly improved the sonic performance of the equipment they are connected to.
