    Room Eq On The C2?

I have the 7100 without room EQ but how does the room EQ in the C2 work? How well does it work? Does it just set the speaker levels or more? How long does it take to complete? Is it worth upgrading from the 7100 to the C2 for it? Thanks J.H.

The C2 does not have a room EQ, other than the normal bass and treble controls. (The C2 does have automatic room level and speaker delay adjustment, but no EQ).

For great room EQ, I'd recommend the DEQX. It's the state of the art today...

It gets a little pricey if you want to do it for all 7 channels though. (You'll need 4 DEQX's for that).

Yes, it gets the levels right. The same goes for the distances, except for the subwoofer that usually requires manual correction...

Does the 7100 have manual level calibration? IMHO you can do just as good a job with the aid of an SPL meter and pink noise generator if only the preamp allows you to adjust the levels manually.

Yeah i used the Radio Shack SPL meter so I guess its not really needed.I used the Avia DVD to to the calibrations. Very easy to use and I find the Avia much better than the internal test tones in receivers and processors. What do you think? J.H.

Ah, I forgot that AVIA has the test tones you need.

Yes, I'm sure you got an excellent result. The level calibration you did is in a way better than what the C2 can do, since the C2 does not take the DVD player into account when doing the calibration :T

Yeah its a great calibration DVD. I use that thing often. Did a great job on calibrating my TV too. J.H.

Room size and impact of surround spkr
                by 2channellover
After about a month of researching I'm getting close to a decision on spkrs for my new HT room.

The room is medium size I guess for HT...21'wide by 17' deep by 10' h, the screen will be on the 21' wall, and seating 13' from the screen and approx. 11'/12' from the LCR spkrs.

So, I just bought a new house and will have a dedicated audio/HT room for the first time (once I do some work in the basement).

2 channel audio is by far my first priority, but I plan on installing a real HT room for movies.

I like the flexibility of using my own DAC....

                Interesting DEQX discovery
                by Branwell
In the past, I noticed that I prefer a well implemented passive crossover to the DEQX ( mid to tweeter ).

Never gave any thought as to why, just accepted that in an apples to apples comparison, the passive sounded better.

Had an interesting discovery this evening.

7100, LFE, and Subwoofer level, relationship?
                by Wadsbrau
I am trying to wrap my head around LFE, and subwoofer levels and how they interact with the 7100. I completely understand what LFE is. However, I am not sure how the 7100 settings for Subwoofer level (in speaker setup menu) and the LFE level interact with the 7100. Subwoofer level generally sets...

Parasound 7100 vs. Sunfire or Anthem?
                by mlbrand
I am in the market for a new pre/pro, and am considering (in no particular order) the Parasound 7100, the Sunfire TGIV, and the Anthem AVM-30.

A friend of mine heard the Parasound 7100, and he thought the high end was a little too laid back. Has anyone else thought this?
