krell sacd/cd player would a c1 recognize signals

If you had a sacd/cd player like the krell, would the connections have to be 5.1 interconnects rca in or could it be digital.

And if it was digital would the C1 switch automatically for SACD or would you have to select 7.1 to play it.

Lastly, with a quality DAC like the Krell maybe it would be better to use balanced out to the C1 and bypass for CD and digital for SACD.

But once again do you have to manually select each time.

It would have to be 5.1. The standard digital connection that the C1 has does not support SACD. (However, for normal audio CDs you could still use a digital connection).

That said if the Krell's DAC's are better then those in the C1 you'd want to use analog cables to take advantage of them. I know the C1's DAC's are very good but the Krell's may be better. Make sure you use some quality interconnects as well.

To determine which DAC's are better, then one would have to listen and decide which one sounds better would one ? This is always the determining criteria is it not ?

Yes. The easiest way to do it is to use two different inputs. Connect the digital input to one an the analog to the other then simply toggle between the two and pick the winner.

This is not possible, when using the digtal output of the krell, then you can only listen to the cd track of the sacd. So switching between anolog or digital connections won't give you a impressions about the dacs.

I meant for normal CD playback not multichannel as you're correct that will rely soley on the Krell
