Have an old school 800ASW circa 1995 (not the asw-800 which was introduced some years later). After 4 repairs under warranty then another failure in 2000, I turned it into a $1500 coffee table.

Have any of you heard the PV1 yet? I had a demo of it yesterday at my dealer. By looking at its looks and size, I didn't think much of it, until the salesperson turned it on and put in some rap music. The main sales floor was easily 3000 cubic ft and leads to other demo rooms. The little baby filled up the room with good clean bass..wow!! I was really impressed and cool thing about it is that when you touch it while it's blasting, there's no vibration at all. Should I go for that one, instead of one of SVSs bigger subs? I can get 2 PC+25-31 for the price of one PV1 though.Comment

Neah, if you go over to hometheaterforum.com, one guys has 8 PC+ 16-46s and 2 (yes two) B12-Plus/4s....
Now that's some serious bass.
I've heard the PV1, I think the SVS PB12-Plus/2 is a better choice than two PC+ 25-31s... Both (two SVS') will perform at par or slightly better than the PV1 from what I've seen. The PV1 does work a lot like the B12-Plus/4 where the cabinet does not vibrate one bit (though they are in two different classes) :E
It's a tough call, I like B&Ws speakers extremely well, I've just not been a fan of their subs...they are good (not for the price though), but to me, they still haven't found that level that SVS has for the price. Like you are paying for the B&W name...but not getting the quality that's in the B&Ws speaker lines (not saying the PV1 isn't a quality sub).
I'd push for trying to raise the few extra bucks for a PB12-Ultra/2 in black. That's about the best performing sub I've heard at the price range and a decent amount beyond it.Digital Audio makes me Happy.

Regardless of what sub you have please buy House of The Flying Daggers on R3 DVD (DTS). It really has the most extraordinary sound and will test your every aspect of your system including the subwofer
. The "echo game" chapter in it has to be the best demo sequence audio wise I have ever come across by a large margin. Not a bad film either.

Yes, ASW850 along with 802, HTM1 and SCM1. I doubt anyone will ever need a better sub than that. I dont think I am anywhere near the limits of it..Comment
