    Which Subwoofer For N803's?

My 803's and HTM1 are on the way and eta is 4 or 5 days. I also need ot replace my older asw2000 sub and I ordered a new B&W asw800 sub on the recommendation of my dealer. Has anybody listened to this sub with either the 803's or 804's and how does it sound for music and HT.

I was considering one of the new Velodyne DD series, probably the DD-12. It is a little more expensive and has received wonderful reviews. It has the new state of the art texas instrument chip which allows for specific room equalization and may be more cutting edge than the b&w.

The B&W sub will work better aesthetically as it is finished in natural cherry and this will please the mrs. But, I ordered it because it is supposed to be more musical. The Velodyne reviews indicate that it is also supposed to be very musical. When I think about how I will be using the sub - it's useage will be about 85% for HT, and 15% for Multi-Channel SACD and DVD-A. I generally do not use a sub for music - that is why I chose the 803's over the 804's.

What do you think - I ask again. I still have some time to waffle and/or change my decision on the sub.

    Gostan,

You know my views - the ASW850 is simply an amazing sub - musical, tigth and deep. Able to get the 14Hz to 20Hz notes at physical volumes that the ASW800 just doesn't go to. If you can spring the extra $ - you'll never look back. I heard one again today (me still in speaker lusting mode) and truely room filling bass.

      Geoff:

Your advise is well appreciated. I may have to join you in the kidney-selling line.

        by tboooe
Hi, I would like to get more bass and more overall body and fullness out of my setup. Currently I have the 805S and I am thinking about either adding a Velodyne dd12 or just upgrading and getting the 803S. Would getting a sub to complement my 805S give me what I am looking for or is the 803S the better...

        N803s or 703s....?
        by Drewbert
Im looking around on audiogon for some 700s... And I ultimatly want 804s or 803s. But I noticed that I can find N803s for a little bit more than the newer 700s.... so would you go for the N, or just save a little more and buy the newer 800s? For me the 703s are much easier to get, and I love the way...

Used Sub Woofer - ASW 800 or ASW 700?
        by perla4u
        Folks,

I am in the market for a used Sub woofer and a quick look at audiogon, I found 2 Subs that are in my price range. A used ASW800 and an used ASW700 (actually 700 price is 150$ more than 800 in the listing). Any other better subs in B&W line? I do see ASW825 for sale but for...

        ASW800 sub
        by miner
The right channel on my ASW800 sub amp has a problem since a nearby lightening strike last week (it was hooked up to a Rotel RLC-1040, similar to an APC H15). The right channel has a crackling noise associated with it, the left is still good. I had it connected to the 2nd set of outputs on my preamp....
