    Cdm9 w/ Adcom or Rotel ??? I need help ...

    Hi everyone.
    I´m new here and am just about to close a deal with a local dealer..

    I have a B&W Cdm9 Nt (red cherry) but feel the need to upgrade my denon 3803 receiver...

    I have diferent options:

    The first is : Rotel RSP-1066 ou 1068 ;
    Rotel RB-1080 (Cdm9s);
    Rotel RMB-1066 (for center and surrounds).
    OR
    Adcom GTP860II ;
    Adcom GFA-5800 (Cdm9s);
    Adcom GFA-6000 (center & surrounds)

    Im almost going for tha Adcom configuration...
    What do you think ??? What should i do ???? Please help...

    I must preface this with the fact that I haven't auditioned any of the current crop of Adcom equipment.

    That being said, when I purchased my N805's I originally had an Adcom GTP 600 pre/pro and GFA 6000 amp. Shortly there after I bough a Rotel RSP-1066 pre/pro (mainly to get the newer surround decoding formats). I was shocked by the immediate difference between the GTP and the 1066. The Adcom was murky. When I switched to the 1066, it was as if the fog had lifted.

    I continued along for another year with the Adcom GFA 6000 amp, but wasn’t 100% satisfied. The sound was very bright. A lot of glare. Recently I switched out the Adcom GFA 6000 for a Rotel RMB-1095. Again, immediate improvement. The glare was gone, the bass was tighter, and the overall sound quality was much smoother.

    So, in my personal experience, the Rotel equipment was preferred to the Adcom, but again, this was rather dated Adcom equipment. Also, I would go for the RSP-1068 over the 1066. I think several of the improvements are worth the difference.

        I haven't listened to the CDM9NT, but if I had to guess, I would expect the N805 to surpass the CDM9NT in all except bass extension. Perhaps your dealer would let you do an in-home audition of both before having to make up your mind.

        Keep in mind, if you go with the N805's, you will need a good subwoofer to fill in the region below 49Hz.

        Here is a review of the N805 from Stereophile a few years back.
