    B&W 804s with Adcom amp.

I setup my Adcom GFA 555 amp too my B&W804s today, using my Denon avr 3803 as a preamp. The question is ,why is the volume level way lower than when it is played off the Denon 3803 front channels? the Denon is rated at 110 watts per channel. The adcom GFA 555 is rated at 200 watts per channel.

The volume level is lower because the Adcom probably has lower gain than the amp section of the Denon. Therefore, the Adcom requires a higher input signal level to compensate for its lower input sensitivity, and achieve a loudness level similar to the Denon. Is the volume level actually lower, or do you just have to turn the volume control up higher to achieve the same sound level as when driving the speakers with the Denon ? If that is the case, then you have no real problem. Just turn up the volume control to get the listening level you need.

Glen you are correct. I do have to turn the volume level up quite a bit. I figured with that much power the 804s would be louder at lesser volume.

      Thanks

Setting volume levels on RSP-1098 - rears seem soft?
        by jlee
Hello. I just got my RSP-1098. Firmware is version 3.1 (I guess the 2 week wait was worth it... seems as if I ended up with the most recent version). I just got my Classe CAM-200 for the center channel yesterday.

        Setup:
        Left, Center, Right - CAM-200
        Rear - RB-1080
