    704 Tweeter Issue

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum. I recently noticed that the tweeter in the left speaker of my 704 is out. Before I look at ordering a replacement, is there anything I should look for? I'm no techie. I did take the tweeter housing off and the cables are still attached. Is it possible it isnt the tweeter and possibly the high frequency crossover instead?

    Any advice is welcome.

    Thanks!

If you have a multimeter, put it on the resistance/ohms setting and connect it to the two terminals on the back of the tweeter after disconnecting one or both of the wires to the crossover. If it shows infinite resistance, the tweeter is bad. If it shows a few ohms, it's ok and the problem is likely in the crossover.

Darn. Connected it up and the needle swung all the way over to 0 ohms instead of infinity...so I guess it is the crossover.

Well...never noticed the brass clips connecting the HF and MF speaker cables had become unlodged. Rather akin to checking to see if it was plugged in...LOL. Thanks for the advice though

            805s vs 704!!
            by ac81017
The 805s and the 704 are almost the same in price here in Sweden, question is which one to go for?? I´m still new to the high end world. What should I look for when it comes to testing the difference between the 8052 and the 704?? I´m going to my local hifi store next friday to demo both speakers....

            Measuring Resistance issues
            by ruseriousclark
Three 8 Ohm drivers in parallel should yield a resistance of 2.667 Ohms. However I just wired it up and threw on the meter and cannot get anything other than 3.4-5 Ohms as a reading.

Busted meter or is my math just that bad?

FYI... 3 M3N's wired in parallel

            upgraded to 704 from 602
            by csuzor
I was able to find a dealer with a large B&W range, so I could compare the 6xx and 7xx series... and I fell i love with the 704. There is just so much more definition throughout the dynamic range than any of the 6xx series... I had no idea it would be that obvious! When switching from 603 or 604...

            Comments: B&W 704 vs. N805
            by bcgator
            Hey gang,

Thought I'd throw some comments out, maybe spur a discussion. I started putting together a surround sound system earlier this year....added a set of maple B&W 704 (fronts) and HTM7 center to an older pair of ADS L570's (backs) to get myself started.

            Well,...
