    N801 rubber plug

Theres a rubber plug at the back of the speaker directly behind the midrange tube. Does it have to be removed for listening or should be covered in place thanks.

Can you provide a picture? I suspect you may be referring to the transport screw. If it is the transport screw, which is a small cap and screw, then it needs to be removed. The transport screw was just used to prevent the voice coil from rubbing when transporting the loudspeaker.

      802D vs N801
      by DeepEndX
I have the N801 and listened to the 802D at the dealer. 802D has a deeper bass and the tweeter is a lot brighter than the N801 due to the diamond tweeter and the rochel bass. The N801 needs a lot of wattage and requires a large space with high volume to utilize the potential of the 1000 watts spe...

There is very little mention of the 801's. I think I read hear that the 801's were the least...
