what is a better update?

i want to add bass to my system.. the db1 cost alot of money.
i have 804 di .. what will be a better choice for h.t
to buy the db1 ? or to update the speakers to 802?
i have room that is 4 meter on 3 meter..
not big at all.

For HT, you'll probably be wanting a sub for the LFE channel.

For that size of room I would think a subwoofer would add the most impact for home theater bass. I would also think that you can buy a great hight quality subwoofer that is not B&W that is cheaper than the B&W subwoofer. The 804's are great speakers and I think it would be much cheaper in that size of a room to just add a high quality subwoofer. Hey but if money is not a concern go for the 802's those are awesome speakers also!

Get a used JL Audio Fathom (F112 or F113) and be happy! Great synergy with 800-series speakers.

for HT you will need a good sub in both sceneries with or without 802D, so if you are disposed to spend both sub and 802D you could go for it, but in your room a 802D only will get you a excelent stereo system for music.

I have 802D2 and they are fine for most music w/o a sub. I actually really like listening to them in stereo w/o a sub - the sound is simply amazing. That said, if you want to "add bass" to your system, the only answer is to get a sub. Of course, for HT use, you "need" a sub.

I agree, for music 802D's have bass enough - but HT has a "Low Frequency Effects" channel, that provides ambiance by rumbling lots! I can't help thinking this is not especially healthy for my 802D's. This type of effect is much better suited to a dedicated sub.

They're staying there for now! The music had incredible impact! Might mess around some more this weekend and see if the Velodynes sound better to me.

I second SVS Subs... I only have one and would love to get a couple more... but I'm plenty happy with just one, it works and pressurizes the whole room (16x30) with the sliding door open. I'll take that!

I'm a huge fan of subs for music. The main thing however is that they are properly equalized and set up to not dominate the sound field. They should work with the music, not dominate it.
