Sub to match 804 rosenut finish

So I have 804 diamonds, have had them for a year and love the sound. Now I want to get a subwoofer.... would love to get a DB1 8) but can't stretch to it right now

I've thought about a PV1D but would rather something that matched the rosenut finish of my 804s. Is there anything from REL or such for PV1D money that people could recommend as a great performer and very good colour match to 804s?

I think if the colour match is slightly off it would probably look odd and I might as well get the PV1D

    Thanks!

Also anyone running PV1D with 804 diamonds?

How much does the PV1D cost? The reason I ask is that the Paradigm rosenut finsh matches the B&W rosenut finsh very well. The Paradigm Sub 12 and Sub 15 are really good performers but might cost more than the PV1D. I think the Paradigms cost around low 2k and low 3k respectively but don't hold me to that as their prices continue to rise.

      Thanks Rod,

I hadn't considered Paradigm, they look great though. Here in Australia a PV1D is around US$2000, whilst the Sub 12 would be $3500. I think it will be worth stretching for as it is a larger driver and will look much better in the living room.

It's only half the price of the DB1 here in Oz

Have you compared Paradigm to the DB1 yourself?

Unfortunately no I haven't had the opportunity to see let alone hear a DB1 in person. My dealer doesn't stock much of the 800 series only the 805, 804 and 803. They have never had a DB1, 802 or 800 in the store and last time I asked out of curiosity they have never had a customer purchase the 800's, just 802's sight unseen/unheard like I did so I assume if they have sold a DB1 it would be the same deal as the 802's and 800's.

for sub, u can buy piano plack and it will match with every color.
I have seen DB1 in rosenut, and to be honest, it looks wired.... i still prefer the piano black sub.

that said, PV1D is a good choice, but they are smallish with only two 8inch driver. U can look for subs from SVS, or veledyne. If you like musical sub, buy sealed version. for boom boom movie, buy ported version.

another great sub is CM 12inch. it's poor man's DB1,

You can get subs in any color you like, as long as its black.

I have 800s in cherry and db1 in piano. It works well.

I agree that the db1 in other colors looks very weird.

Thanks for the input guys. I've ended up ordering a SVS PV13 Ultra in rosenut... seems to be the best option over here with our Oz prices. Don't think it will be a perfect match but I can at least place it a few feet away from the speakers.

              Should arrive Wednesday, can't wait!!

I've got the 800w version of this sub mated with Wilson Sophia 1's in ~2700 cubic feet space. Performance wise, I very much doubt you'll be dissapointed, it's an awesome beast for both movies and music. Some say ported is not the prefered choice for music but it puts a smile on my face

Definitely want to see some pictures. I know you'll LOVE the sub.... and also be shocked at the size of the thing! ha ha. But it's all good!!!!

Now that makes me want to replace my SVS PC12... but it still works sooo good I'd just not know if I could get rid of it.

Im looking to upgrade to either one of these subwoofers. Im currently using a Rel Storm and a SVS SB12. A dealer has loaned me the DB1 to test and im truly impressed with its capability and control. The problem is i have no real point of reference other than my current set up. It gets even worse with...

I have an opportunity to go 2x PV1D or 1x DB1. Auditioning will always give an answer to this but I just wanna hear your thoughts and experience about this as I don't have time to go audition right now.

                        Hi Guys

I am struggling to understand the DB1 manual on how to take advantage of the B&W speakers setting that exist in the DB1. I am using the DB1 in an HT setup with 804 Diamond as fronts, HTM@ Diamond as centre and 4 inceiling speakers (i forgot the model number. I have set up...

Finally went diamond. I considered the new D3 804's but they don't go on sale in the US till January, plus I was already in love the 805 D's. Couldn't wait :B 805' plus a DB1 is more expensive than a pair of 804's but the bass extension is worth it. I matched them with a McIntosh MAC 6700 200 watt...

I'm seriously thinking about an upgrade to B&W 804 Diamond, because I love the design. I haven't heard them yet, but I could imagine, that they are much better than my current B&W XT4. I use Thule PR350B as preamp and Thule PA350BV (2x350w) as power amplifer.

                        I have used this...
