Anyone using velodyne subwoofers with there B&W speakers. I am currently using a DD-12, but when I upgrade to the 803D or 804 diamonds, was thinking about adding a second DD-12 subwoofer to the system for HT, since you can usually find one at a decent price. Any experience with the velodyne subs and B&W 800 series?

I actually heard to DD-15 with a pair of 803 Daimonds thsi weekend and all I can say way DAMN, that was impressive HT sound. That;s where the idea of two DD-12 came from. What about using a DD 15 and DD 12, what would be the pro or cons of using two different sizes? Anyone know,,,Originally posted by ShadowZAI'm using one DD15 with my 3 front end 802D's and the integration is seamless.. Imho, your plan to add another DD-12 to your setup is perfect.- Bottom

I like the idea of adding a second DD-12 but adding a DD-15 I never tried using one bigger badder sub with a smaller one. I'm wondering if any issues would a raise. Thinking about it the DD-15 will play slightly lower , speed might be slightly different but not enough to really notice. I'm curious how this would work out. I can't see it not. It's not balanced and thats probably the anal side of me. I don't think I would be able to mix and match , I would need 2 or one or the other.Originally posted by doviimanI actually heard to DD-15 with a pair of 803 Daimonds thsi weekend and all I can say way DAMN, that was impressive HT sound. 2 sub's always cover a room better then just one. You can fix some issues in the room with a second sub.
On a sie note , not many subs can claim to be better or equal to velodyne offerings. They have been making excellent subs for many years. I never met one I didn't like and I've been through just about everything they ever made except the latest models.
I'm interested in what you do here. Post your results if you go DD-12 with a DD-15.- Bottom

I wouldn't match a DD-15 with a DD-12 because you will be hitting the limits of the DD-12 before you will be hitting the limits of the DD-15. I think you should get another DD-12 to match what you already have or try to sell the DD-12 and apply the money to a DD-15. However, having two DD-12s will be better than having one DD-15 because your bass response will be smoother across more seating locations. If you want, you can get the DD-15 now if you can and listen to the setup with the DD-15 and DD-12. If you like it, then you are good to go, if you don't like it, then sell the DD-12 and get another DD-15. I believe that 2 DD-12s equals 1 DD-15, and 2 DD-15s equals 1 DD-18 as far as output is concerned.Originally posted by doviimanI actually heard to DD-15 with a pair of 803 Daimonds thsi weekend and all I can say way DAMN, that was impressive HT sound. Yes, it's a sound to behold. When they kick in, the room is truly pressurized, and I have plenty of headroom left. So, as long as they keep functioning, I will consider myself out of the Subwoofer Market. :TOriginally posted by doviimanWOW a DD-18, I can only imagine the sound of that things. WOW ;x(- Bottom

I was just curious if anyone had tried to different size subs. My room is to small for placement of two 15'' subs, but the two 12subs will work fine. I'm using 4 Velodynes in my HT setup with 805S's. 2 DD12's in the front end and 2 HGS12's to the sides of my couch.
We're about to move and the new place has a really nice room for HT (21x15) and I want to stick one sub in each corner, should sound pretty good.
4 subs work great, check this out: http://www.harman.com/EN-US/OurCompa...s/multsubs.pdfStereo: Revel F208, Parasound JC2, JC1's, Oppo HA-1, VPI, Dynavector, Moon

Have you ever compared the DD tot he HGS? I'm assuming they are very close in performance. The DD probably is a bit more powerful with the HGS being slighty more music right?- Bottom

Very close indeed. The DD series just offers the room EQ feature which is very helpful for problem rooms. In terms of impact and slam they're very close. I find them equal for musicality and sound efx rumble. My HGS subs are over 10 years old now, they've held up to quite a beating and several cross country moves. :TOriginally posted by DmantisAhh man , HGS series woofers , i'm so loving that. not with B&Ws but I run a couple of DD15s. theyre awesome subs
mine is a curious arrangement, I run one for purely lfe duties for AV. ie its hooked upto my av pre pro. the second dd15 I have coming off my 2ch system, ie off the pre amp out from my power amp. and is just used to extend my mains. so in essence for 2ch only one is used. but in av both subs come in play. I've noticed with quite a bit of music the dd15 for 2ch isnt even required. so plan when have the chance to put them both for av. my processor gives me option of running 2 L&R subs or 2 LFE subs or if 3 subs two L&R and one LFE.
my point...if running separate LFE and 2ch subs I see no reason for running different subs for the separate duties. but if running both for LFE I'd stick with two of the same.
if can get rid of the dd12 is there a chance can get hold of couple of DD15s or one DD18 that is one awesome beast as well

The TC LMS-18 5400 Ultra is the best sub I've ever owned.

80lb magnet of finger crushing bass

It has 3 inches of excursion. My microphone sucks, but you get the idea.
The think will literally break drywall.

and just in case you still don't believe me :B

by nima0501I recently decided that I would buy a pair of B&w 602 s3's and was wondering what kind of subwoofer would match well with them. I have tried several subs from B&W and was very pleased but have heard many say that velodyne, rel, and other brands were more geared towards music.

Hi,
I'm down to two subwoofers.
SVS PB13-Ultra VS. Velodyne DD12
Pros and Cons I can think of:
1. SVS is $500 cheaper
2. Velodyne is smaller, SVS is double the size
3. SVS goes lower according to the tests.
4. Velodyne...-
