Possibly silly question - do the black B&W 703s look better in person than online?

I'm pretty much decided on getting a pair of 703s, and I'd been planning on getting them, or any other speaker, in rosewood. Having said that, I've got a line on a black pair that can be had for a very good price. I've never seen these in person in black, but online the black 703s appear to look rather bland. Do they somehow look better in person, where the detail of the wood can be appreciate?

I have a pair of black ash 703's. The wood grain is nice and looks better up close, or with good lighting. At a distance that detail doesn't show up as well as a lighter color. My preference would have been rosewood, but wound up with black ash - nice, but at a distance, in poor lighting they're just black. With the grills off, the contrast looks quite nice, but still I'd prefer the rosewood.

Thanks, Lee. I can get a pair of black 703s near-mint for just under $2000. Might hold out for a used pair in either Rosewood or Cherry, but the price for the black pair is definitely right and the speakers are in town, so I'd also be saving on shipping. Tempting!

In the end, it's about the sound that comes from the speakers. I'd grab them, place them in a good sounding room and then relax and enjoy them!

I have the 703s in cherry and the best part about them is the sound.

That's exactly how I wound up with black ash. They were in town, just like new and priced right. I had been waiting for a while and couldn't pass them up. Even though I'd rather rosenut, I'm pretty happy with the black. The 703's don't show up as often as some others, so you might want to grab those, as long as they are in good condition. I know you won't be dissappionted with the sound.

Rosenut of 800S/D vs. Rosewood of older 800 Nautilus line
            by boarder1995
Ok, I'm in the hunt for 800 series speakers and am consider a used pair of Nautilus line units, but am concerned about finish colors. Black ash is easy to match up, but what about the Rosenut current 800 color versus the older Rosewood color in the Nautilus line? I may just go black to keep it simple,...

I think I have to blame perla4u for his "Worried new B&W owner thread"

I have been in the B&W family for a couple of years now, with a pair of 603 S3s in my main 2 channel setup and a pair of 600 S3s in the kitchen.

I was thinking that It might be...

            B&W 703 missing serial numbers
            by Mark_89
I've recently purchased a nice pair of second-hand B&W 703 speakers in rosenut as a replacement for my black 703s. Now I was installing the new 703s and noticed something very weird: the stickers on the terminal tray for the new speakers have a very odd arrangement and are both missing the serial...

            703s is Rotel RB-1090 (380watts x 2) too much power?
            by orangebull
I have a pair of 703s for my main speakers. I am looking to buy a new Rotel amp for my main speakers. I currently have 1098 processor and RB-1075 130w x 5 amp).

I am trying to decide between the RB-1080 and RB-1090. From reading the specs of the 703s it indicated power handling of...
