    B&W Fail

I purchased a pair of new 683's about 2 years ago and when I got them home soon realized that one speaker was putting out more sound than the other. After some troubleshooting I came to the conclusion that one of the speakers had a midrange that was not working at all.
Took the speaker back to the store where I purchased it and they guy immediately started wrenching on it and found a loose wire inside the box and secured it. Needless to say we were both a little surprised by all this.
Well, long story short, the issue is back again and giving a little tap on the side of the speaker gets the sound to come back for awhile, but it eventually goes dead again.
What to do? Should I open er back up and see if I can locate the wire, or call the store?
I know for a fact that the 683's were one of the speaker lines that B&W started having built in China to keep costs down, but this is kinda silly....

Then I would say that you should send this message to B&W instead.

      Blues,
Call the dealer and/or B&W. They will take care of this.I hope I did not mis-understand you but hope you are not suggesting that just because it was manufactured in China it is inferior.

I've had my 683s for three years with literally thousands of hours on them and they sound fabulous - no problems at all.
No company can be perfect with everything. I bet B&Ws warranty rate is very low, however.

Do not open them up yourself as you will void the waranty.Take them to your dealer who is authorized to do repairs or contact B&W.

          When I had the 683's I never had a problem with them.Wonderful speakers. :T

            Best CENTER for 683s?
            by Randell
I just bought a pair of 683s, which I'm loving. However, I noticed that my existing center (Athena AS-C1.2) is not really up to par. Here is the current center:

I find that the Athena sounds very directional. Like the sound is obviously coming from...

            RSX1055-F/W upgrade Write Fail
            by adinfinitum
            Hello all,
            Been absent for some time.

I've been getting annoyed at my RSX-1055 defaulting back to 2CH and noticed that the latest F/W 2.3 should make the unit default to DPLII cinema. I downloaded all the instructions and started the update but it isn't working.
            Firstly,...

How long for new 683s to burn in?
            by SteelyTom
I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts on whether there is a burn-in period to begin with for a new pair of 683s, and if so: (1) how long does it take; (2) will a perceptible change in sound quality result after burning-in takes place, and (2) should I baby these guys until the burn-in period is over...

Advice for HT 5.2 Setup, Sourcing Parts from China
            by hawkson
            Hi,
I will be sourcing all of my parts from China. I am currently living in Shanghai and couldn't bring my commercial Axiom M60's + HSU sub to Shanghai without extremely high 20% import tax(600$ just to import my own equipment, talk about unfair trade) and 400$ shipping.

            My focus...

            Made in China
            by Don
I recently auditioned the rmb 1075 (thinking of buying).
The dealer told me that the components are made by Rotel in England but assembled only in China. Is this correct? :?:

I have a few bad experiences with items that were made in China.

            Any info is appreciat...
