    Yes,

You can do this of course, but there was a thread some time ago showing the relative costs, and it was more then just purchasing the new speaker new and selling your old one at current used pricing.
    Main System:
    B&W 801D
    Emotiva USP-1 Pre-Amp
    Chord SPM-650 Stereo Amp
    Oppo BDP-105
    Squeezebox Touch

    Second System:
    B&W CM7
    Emotiva UMC-1
    Emotiva UPA-2
    Oppo BDP-83SE
    Grant Fidelity DAC-09

I don't think you need that thread.. You have the costs right there:

This for just one speaker assuming you use all your old parts for the rest:

        Tweeter: ~$1530
        Midrange: ~$140
        Bass Drivers: ~$400
        Xovers: ~$684

Total: $2754 + you time to do the mods.

The cost of a new 804D2 speaker is ~$3700 list and you could sell an N804 speaker for ~$1100. So you can get the real thing for $2600 per speaker. This is assuming list price.

And once you mod those N804s I think they will be very hard to sell..

Believe me when i say i looked into this myself and my heart was set on "upgrading" my 803S with Diamonds. After doing a cost analysis, the potential upgrade was not worth the time and effort. After selling the 803S the difference was marginal for the "real" thing.

thank you for your quickly reply

Just another topic, I just sold my rotel 1075 and want to buy a class D power amp. Lot of people tell good things about nuforce but looks like there are other brands with little or no difference in sound for much less in $$

I have no choice to take a class D power amp, would my N804 benefit a lot ?

Personally I have not yet heard a Class D amp that I thought bettered an equivilently priced Class A or A/B amp. That, however, does not mean they don't exist...

I agree with Stuofsci02...if your priority is music, stick with A, A/B.

                  Hello,

I'm in the possibility to exchange my (fineer-damanged) pair of Nautilus 804 speakers for a pair of 805S with stands.

The question now is... is this really an upgrade? I'm not looking at the bass register (I have a B&W 825 that can take care of whatever I'm...

                  Upgrading from N804--need suggestions
                  by akhter
                  First the good news...

I bought my N804 new 8 years ago. Got a good deal on the last brand new pair at the dealer right when 804S was launched.

Looks like the 2nd value of the speakers are shockingly high--I can expect to get 80% of what I paid for them 8 years ago!...
