I have the 800 series but mine are spanking unused condition.Only the 802D's have even been hooked up for 14 hours and the other never made it that far.So mine are in truly pristine condition in their boxes.If you can live with brand new then get back to me.A Man should never Gamble more than he can stand to loose. -

I use to have a pair of 801, the old original ones with fabric tweeters. Lovely speakers, a well built classic. I have these old details and reviews if anyones interested.

As many of you, the Matrix 801 were a dream from the very beginning, when falling into Hi-Fi clutches. Years have passed and finally I could bought a pair of 801 Series II second handed (white ones), while now I also got another pair of 801 (black ones), but in Series III.... -
I have been chatting to a B&W rep - about proper matching for my 801 Series 2 in a HT setup. I currently have them in stereo only on a Jeff Rowland Model 1.
To move them over to HT, B&W suggests the Classe SSP-600, the B&W HTM2 and matched rears - and 3 or 5 more amplifier... -

Have any of you ever tried to "upgrade" the 801 Series 80? I am thinking tweaks to the cross over, better cables internally, chaning the tweeters to never metal dome type's - and if so does it work with the existing crossover? -or maybe even changing it from a closed box...07 May 2004, 13:00 Friday -
Hello, all. I have "inherited" a pair of somewhat cosmetically-challenged 801 Series 80 speakers from around 1982 or so. These were originally a matched-pair though time has done some damage to the relationship.

I´m stuck in the mud between these two speakers, I have 801 series 80 and I´m thinking of upgrading to 803D, I have tested them but find it hard to hear a real difference between the two. I can´t afford 802D, 803D is pushing the boat out but possible. I would love to hear from others who know these...
