Any 802D/801D/800D owners with Mcintosh C2300/MCD301 or MCD500?

I'm being tempted by the Mac, on my shortlist is the Meridian 808.2i, PS Audio PerfectWave Transport/DAC.

    To go with the 800D's.

I heard Mac CD players are not that great????? I've heard them with B&W are very impressed.

As a satisfied owner of the Meridian 808 version 1 signature reference CD player I support your interest in the 808.2i. Would be best if you are able to listen before you buy though. It's expensive and it would be best if you felt sure that this fine player meets up to your expectations. Good luck and please keep us posted.

I've listened to all three, but at three different hifi shops and different speakers.

All are fantastic, I don't want to put down the Meridian 808 series, but the PS Audio PWT/PWD clearly shines above it in sonics and functions.

      Mac is sooooooooooooooo sexy!

I've visited the PS Audio website and am drooling over the versatility of the PWT/PWD setup. I'm still a redbook CD junky and love the way the 808 upsamples and can connect directly to a power amp via balanced analog outs (using it's own variable control to change the "volume"). In addition to this, I've begun to build a collection of blu-ray recordings starting with Celine Dion, Diana Krall & Chris Botti. I have no idea just how long blu is going to be around but a goal of mine (let's call it short to medium term) is to acquire some type of reference quality blu-ray player which, in addition to taking blu discs to the limit, also has the ability to take redbook cd to the limit ... and eclipse the Meridian 808 dedicated cd player in terms of sound quality (rather than versatility). Maybe I'm asking too much. But then maybe not, as technological improvement is continuous. Of course versatility + reference quality sound = the holy grail.

Yeah, the PWT/PWD does look and sound amazing.

The PWD has volume control too, so you can have it direclty connected to an amplifier.

I believe the PWT/PWD has redefined what is required for a "reference" RB player. I was shocked when I heard it against the Meridian 808.2, absolutely amazing.

BTW Which part of CT you in? I used to live in upper bishops court, plettenberg bay and pietermaritzburg
