Sorry if this has been covered before, do the feet/spikes improve the sound of these speakers or is it just for looks?

mal01,
In my opinion, yes, spikes do improve the sound quality of a speaker. Especially in the bass area. Even better are speaker stands. I use a pair on my 804S's, with very nice improvement. They are from Sound anchors. Spikes or stands are not just for looks. They separate the speaker fromthe rest of the environment. The less vibration into the speaker, the less the sound gets distorted.
Having said that, though, the spikes on the 802D's are HUGE. And they are a bit of a pain to put on. Tipping 802D's around is something many are not comforatable with. I have noticed some people have granite slabs made and put underneath 802D's. See some pictures in the B&W picture gallery.
Hope this helps.- Bottom

I have the 802N's and I also think the feet help in the bass. I'm selling my B&W Spike Foot Kit now on Audiogon, however. My main reason is that I want to be able to move the speakers out further from the wall for improved sound stage depth when I want to do serious listening. Plus I'm trying to raise some cash for an MC252 amp.- Bottom

mal01,
Assuming the feet/spikes are the same as the 802D's, then I smell an opportunity here if you want to go that way (I am assuming you currently do not have the spikes. I believe you need to order them with the 802D's to get them free. After that, you're generally on your own).
ColoKurt,
An excellent choice in amps. I have a 252 driving my 802D's. A wonderful combination.
Hope this helps.- Bottom

Thanks for the encouragement, Steve. I just missed an MC252 sale on Audiogon by a good guy. Now I have to wait until another one comes up. There's a nice MC352 there for the same price but I doubt that I could hear the difference and I just don't want to deal with the extra size and weight.- Bottom

by BigguyZI don't remember exactly where I saw it, but I recently saw a picture of a DIY speaker that had some really coodl speaker spikes on it. The spikes were on the bottom of a "pod" that jutted out of the side corners, rather than just bein affixed to the bottom. I've seen that style foot/spike...-

by joeybuttsAnybody have some alternatives to the typical stuff at PE/Madi? I've been trying to find some but can't seem to find anything really.....different. Also, the set needs to be able to support roughly 200 lbs.... :E
I may just not use spikes at all......

by ninja12Now that I have decided on the final resting spot for my 802Ds, I am going to remove the roller glides and put them on the spikes. I am also thinking about getting some speaker stands from Sound Anchors to put them on. But, before I do that, I was wondering if anyone has put their 802Ds on the spikes...-

by goffrillerI've decided to get the 802ds.
Couple of things:
I talked to Soundanchors on the phone about whether or not my 802n anchors will work on the 802ds. They finally concluded that it would work although I would have to take the rollers off, and also put "camper's tape" on the anchors....-

by GuyCan anyone please tell me approx how much hieght the spikes add to the 802Ds. I am currently planning on turning the garage into a music room and since the floor inside the garage is level with the outside I was thinking of slightly elevating my 802s (just in case). Spikes would be ideal for this....-
