Ah, crap, I've got the upgrade bug...

A couple weeks ago I picked up a pair of Cherywood B&W 704's... and now I want a new center.

So here's what i've come across, and the prices I've found on each"

    HTM7 (rosewood) $350 Brand New
    HTM2 (cherrywood) $650

    So here's my q's:

What will match better with the 704's? I've spent WAY to much time reading reviews on each of these on this site in which some say the HTM7 doesn't match well, some say its awesome, others prefer the HTM2...

How are the prices? Im leading towards the HTM7, but it would be nice if it matched.

    Thanks guys!

You are thinking of the 703s. The HTM7 is a great match with the 704s and 705s. The 703 has the FST midrange and the HTM7 isn't the best match with them. If you can get an HTM7 brand new for $350.00 you should take it! I know it's not the same color you have your 704s in but that is a great deal.

      I agree with hifiguymi.
      1) It is the 703 that customers comment about not matching the HTM7. 704 is a match with the HTM7.
      2) That's a REALLY good price!

If anything, buy the HTM7, keep everything as brand new as possible. Keep an eye out on audiogon for your matching HTM7. Buy it, sell the rosewood HTM7 you have. You break out even and in the end you get your matching center at a low price.

Its that kind-scheming that got me here in the first place!

        I just might do that....

          Why is that scheming?
          Pay $350 for a rosewood HTM7 now.
Find a used cherrywood HM7. Pay a fair price for it.
Sell the now used rosewood HTM7 for the same price.
You lose nothing, you gain a matching color.

That is a great price, I'd say snap it up! It will go great with your 704's.

                Trading in 704s for 703s
                by mrpotto
Ok, so here's what I've decided to do. I'm trading my 704s in for 703s (I have a deal with a local dealer where I get to apply purchase price of 704s towards the 703s so it will be about $800 out of pocket to do so). For now I plan to keep my HTM7 center (I've read on some audio forums that the HTM&...

                LCR600 vs. HTM7?
                by BlazeMaster
Hi, I currently have a 600s 5.1 setup right now and been pretty happy with it so far. But I've noticed one thing about the setup when I watch movies, there seems to be alot of cabinet resonace coming from the speakers, especially the LCR600. Is there anything I can do to reduce it? I currently have...

timbre matching / diff brand center?

I should know better, but I'm hoping to get some answers from people who've tried this:

I have B&W 703's up front, 705's in back, and an HTM7 in the center. I've had my setup for a year now (Rotel 1068, 1075, and 1060 dvd), and have re-discovered how much you can love 2 channel stereo...

Next week I will be getting my commission check. My wife is not happy with all of the electronic that are in full view, so, I have been looking at an array of cabinet solutions. I have a pair of black B&W 704 speakers as part of my home theater system. I purchased them two years ago from a DC retailer - Myer Emco. The speakers were floor demos and I paid $1500.
