Got a sweet deal on some 704's...

Just grabbed a brand new pair of 704's tonight for $800 bones.

WOW. What an upgrade from the p6's I've had for less than a year.

They are being powered by a Rotel RSP-066 and RMB 1075. Lovin' the sound.

Since many of my friends aren't B&W fans, I thought I should place a shot out on this page!

Thanks for all the info guys!

I had the 704's with an Onkyo pre and 1095 amp and really liked their sound. Very open with a lot of punch from the bass driver. Wish I'd had the 1069 pre at the same time.

That speaker has been on TAS top list for quite a few years.

$800.00 is about the used price for one, not the pair. You got a great deal if they are without cosmetic damage. Enjoy.

That is an amazing deal! Those 704s are very nice speakers -- congratulations!

        What finish do they have?

          Got the Cherrywood finish.

They do however, have a couple of dings... but nothing serious.

They were also missing one of the port-plug set and a package of spikes. Regardless, I am VERY happy!

Dont get me wrong... they love B&W speakers and were impressed with the p6's. Most aren't willing (or able) to spend the money on them.

After having a bit of time with these speakers I have to say that I still love them. Rosewood would have been my preference (as I have the HTM7 in rosewood), but now that I picked up a B&W ASW 850 sub in Cherrywood, I think I'll be sticking with Cherrywood!

The 704's are amazing speakers. No regrets! I love the detail, the sound staging, etc. They feel a lot more 3-D than the p6's and the 600 series. And with the 850 music and movies are a whole new world!

What sucks is spending some time on this forum with all those who have the 800 series and you cant help but wonder "Am i missing something?" and then the upgrade bug hits!

stanleyleecm, good luck with your hunt! Sure doesn't seem to be too many used 703's or 704's out there right now. If your looking for a deal, be patient as your sure to find one!

704's are great and very very musical speakers. If possible to find 703, it is better. 7xx series were very special IMO. They do not need an expensive electronics to reveal what they are able, also if you feed them with a good power they make miracles. If I were on the market to buy b&W speakers, and my budget is lower then 8xx's, I should probably looking for a 703.

                    Trading in 704s for 703s
                    by mrpotto
Ok, so here's what I've decided to do. I'm trading my 704s in for 703s (I have a deal with a local dealer where I get to apply purchase price of 704s towards the 703s so it will be about $800 out of pocket to do so). For now I plan to keep my HTM7 center (I've read on some audio forums that the HTM&...

I have a pair of black B&W 704 speakers as part of my home theater system. I purchased them two years ago from a DC retailer - Myer Emco. The speakers were floor demos and I paid $1500.

My son was born around the time I bought speakers, he is now 2. He is obsessessed with the tweeter...

                    Rotel and B&W 704s?
                    by Taito
Hi all, I've been mainly hanging around club Rotel - I own an RCD-1072, an RC-1070 and an RB-1080. Now, it's time to get a pair of really nice speakers.

I have looked at (listended to) several, including VAF Research (I-66), Sonus Faber GPs, Paradigm, Dynaudio Audience 72SE & KEF...

                    Hi guys (and gals!),

I would appreciate your help in a tough (for me) choice! If you were to choose one of the following set-ups, which one would you choose? (this is for both music and movies, and some SACD/Audio DVDs, in a small-ish living room):

                    Sub to go with 704s?
                    by Navin R. Johnso
                    First post, here we go....

I've been lurking here for several months and decided on a pair of 704s and Rotel 1056 as the foundation for a system aimed at 60% music / 40% HT. I've had them for a few weeks and am delighted so far, but now the mind wanders to thoughts of subwoofers....
