    Value of used b&w 704s

I have a pair of black B&W 704 speakers as part of my home theater system. I purchased them two years ago from a DC retailer - Myer Emco. The speakers were floor demos and I paid $1500.

My son was born around the time I bought speakers, he is now 2. He is obsessessed with the tweeter covers and the tweeters on the 704s. So much so that he damaged both tweeter covers and tweeters. I contacted B&W and purchased replacement parts and subsequently hide away the 704s. With the new parts the speakers are like new.

And we have another baby on the way. I've come to the conclusion that I don't have anywhere to set up there speakers that will be out of reach of the rug rat(s). I'm thinking I should sell these speakers and buy something to mount on the wall.

What is the value of these speakers and what is the best way to sell them? Ebay? Craigslist? Audiogon? Or all of the above?

I suppose another option would be to store the speakers in a closet for the next five years or more.

On a side note, I've seen a lot of discussion about which center channel speaker to use with 704s. I'm using a FPM 5 and it sounds great. So much so I'm considering replacing the 704s with FPM 5s. Prior to buying the FPM 5 I also tested the HTM7 and XTC center channel speakers and they just didn't sound right to me. I use a b&w asw 608 subwoofer and have been pleased with the performance alongside the 704s.

    Chuck,

I would suggest checking Audiogon to get the current selling prices and advertising on both Audiogon and Craigslist. I have had luck selling B&Ws on craigslist in the DC metro area.

    Good luck!

The 704s sold on Ebay for $975. Yesterday I bought a pair of XT2s that will be wall mounted out of reach of my 2 year old.

        B&W FPM Series

Well I guess I going to have to head something up on these speakers. The lack of reviews, and information on these speakers is amazing especially when they are such good speakers. I did a search for "FPM" on this site and many other and came up with almost nothing (absolutely nothing on this...

Side and Rear speakers to match FPM's?
        by marius
I just ordered 3 FPM5's for LCR speakers. I'd like to eventually upgrade my rear/side speakers to match the FPM's in the front, but my wife says that they need to be in white or silver. I could go for FPM2's but they seem a bit pricy (especially after going over-budget on the FPM5's).

        Trading in 704s for 703s
        by mrpotto
Ok, so here's what I've decided to do. I'm trading my 704s in for 703s (I have a deal with a local dealer where I get to apply purchase price of 704s towards the 703s so it will be about $800 out of pocket to do so). For now I plan to keep my HTM7 center (I've read on some audio forums that the HTM&...

        B&W FPM 6s vs XT4s

I currently have a full FPM set up with B&W PV1 sub powered by a rotel rsx 1067. I have to admit its a sweet sound system. As many of you know regardless of how good your system sounds, and with out even hearing something better you always think of ways to improve.

        I called my dealer...

        FPM Home theater question
        by Grady
We are installing our first home theater system and I am dealing with a spouse that is a designer (and opinionated!!). I have listened to various B&W speakers and like the sound. We are going to mount a 50" plasma over the fireplace (not too hot). I want to get floor speakers (probably 700...
