Is there a big difference between B&W 804 Nautilus vs 804S

Good afternoon,

i have the following question.

Sometimes I see a good offer for these speakers: B&W 804 Nautilus.

But Is it good to buy these new in a box for about 1.500,-- GBP instead of second (demo) B&W 804S for 2.200,-- GBP or B&W 803S for 2.900,-- GBP.

Or should I be happy with second hand B&W XT4 for 900,-- GBP and use the saved money for completing a nice set with XT2 + stand and maybe a sub woofer?

Pls let me wohat you would advise.

I just upgraded from the N804 to a 804S. I use them as rear channels in my HT. I did this upgrade because I wanted the rears to be the same generaton as my fronts, which are all current 800 series. I was driving for total system synergy.

I certainly understand your dilemma. How to maximize your system for a given spend level. Any of the speakers you listed are very nice. However, the Nautilus or 800 series speakers represent the flagship line in B&W's products. These ar ethe best performers. Great main speakers are needed for excellent 2 channel, as well as they are the foundation for a very good HT. So I would look at the these series first to see if they fit in the budget.

The 804S is better than the N804. Clearer midrange, better bass, smooth midrange. However, is it 700GBP better? I might opt for the N804's right now as the best value for your spending.
