    in-ceiling speaker help!!!

I'm trying to decide between B&W CCM80, CCM65, and CCM818? Any experience with any of these speakers? Thanks!

I think a lot here depends on what you are planning to use them for. If they are being used for background music I would say that the CCM65 and CCM80 are perfect speakers for that. The good thing about these speakers is that if you want to use them to listen to music they are still very capable. (needless to say that the CCM80 will have a better bass performance, but also a bigger print on the ceiling.)

If however you want really want to 'listen' to music as a replacement for box speakers the CCM818 will be much better. The 8' woofer is similar to the one in the Sig. Diamond speaker it also uses first order crossover with mundorf supreme capacitors. The speakers is set under a 12 degrees angle for better imaging. The CCM818 is also very usable as a HT speaker because of the higher sensitivity.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

I have the 817s as rears with 805s and HTM4s in front. I like these speakers as I have them angled towards the listening position. Also, they're angled so as to project the sound forward, not just straight down.

          Help with installation

          Hello,
Can someone tell me how to remove the mesh speaker grills from a CCM80?
I can't figure out how to get access to the screws?
Do you pry it off with a small screwdriver?
          Do you turn it?
          Thank you.

Heh... B&W's have extremely tight grills. Goes to a home supply / tool store and get yourself a pick. Basically an L shaped pointy thing similar to what a dentist uses.

Stick it in one of the holes near the edge and pull down. Work your way around until the whole grill is lower then the plastic surround. You can then move to one of the holes normally covered and pull straight down. Should pop out.

I have the CWM-650 in-walls, and I use a credit card to remove my grills. Fortunately, this is not a common occurrence, but I did have to do it twice since the initial installation. Slide it in where the contact points are, and pull straight out. Work your way around the grill, and eventually it pops out.

Oh...just make sure it's a credit card you don't rely on too much, as the process can wear on the card a bit. :W

CCM818/817 instead of 805S for surrounds?

                Hi folks,

While I'm planning the order, it occurred to me that maybe I should consider nice in-ceiling speakers to fulfill the rear surround duties. My space is not that huge and the location for the rears isn't so ideal to have a bookshelf speaker on a stand.

                Anyone with...

Looking to upgrade my ceiling ccm80 for HT. Any news on CWM 8180 OR DS8??
                by stewfoo
I just saw the cwm 8180 and the cwm DS8 in Electronic House Magazine. It is hard to find solid info on these. I am looking at getting rid of my ccm80 for a better surround speaker that must be put in-ceiling. Has anyone tested or heard these models yet? Are they even available? How do these...
