    BRYSTON 3BSST or 4BSST for the 805s

    Hi guys,
Have the 805s+ BP 6pre and 3BSST power combo and it works fine.
The dealer suggests i go in for the 4BSST.
    Wouldn"t a 300 wpc be overkill for my 805s?
Since ive had the 3B for a week he says i just pay the difference in new retail and take the 4B and never change the amplification again!!!!!!!
    Please advise.

Hmm. With your 3B SST you would probably also never change again as long as you like the sound (same with 4B SST). Both are probably powerful enough to make you happy with whatever speaker you throw at them. But your dealer wouldn't make more money ...

if your sticking with the 805S, the 3BSST is plenty!

            Bryston + B&W 805

            Thanks guys,

Well have not heard the 4BSST so cant really compare to the 3BSST.
But Bryston claims all the amps sound very similar and hence i opted for the 3BSST @ 150 WPC(Sheet says the amp clipped at 178!!) as i thought that would be more than capable for the 120W handling 805s.
The dealer feels i am getting (for payment of 400 USD equivalent) a 300 watt classic which will drive anything!!!!!!!!
I love my speakers and my room size wont allow a bigger speaker so the question of upgrading to 803 is a long way off.
With the brystons i tend to play pretty loud and i was worried that if i do opt for the 4 and play loud will the 300W brute blow my speakers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad to see that someone else likes Bryston amps. What is the difference between the 3B and 4B? Are they both stereo amps?

I have the 7B ST's. A friedn told me to upgrade because I "can do better." I lent them to him for 6 weeks. When he gave them back he told me not to dare sell them and his opinion had changed. :T

                    Bryston

                    Hi Guys,
Decided to stick to the 3 BSST. The 4 BSST which was on offer was a demo unit and i just let it pass though it was tempting for the price.
Yes both are stereo power amps. 3BSST is 150 WPC whereas the 4BSST is 300 WPC.
Ya i do like my combo of Bryston with my 805s
Anyway thanks to all of u for taking the time.
                    Regards

                        805S with Bryston 3BST
                        by shades
I just received the Bryston 3BST and hooked it up ASAP to my 805S. The amp is obviously broke in being it's used. The sound is amazing pushing the 805's with the proper recordings. With bad recordings it will show it to you right away.

My question is the 3BST (rated 120wpc, tested at...

Will 805S improve if run by 300w amp?
                        by mtlrx
I currently run my 805S with Bryston 125w. Wondering if I upgraded the amp to 300w if I it would improve performance of the 805S vs. 125w.

                        Downgrading from Bryston 4BSST?
                        by Armbender
I currently run my B&W 604's with a Bryston 4B-SST into my RSX 1056. I am thinking about downgrading to the Emotiva XPA-5 and possibly running it 3ch for my two fronts and LCR 600 @ 250w/ch. Would this be a good set-up?...Reason for doing it is so i can upgrade the remaining peices of my set-up...i.e....

                        Amps for the 805s
                        by dinyaar
                        Hi,
Been offered a used bryston BP 6/ 3B sst pre/power combo at a good rate to drive my 805s. My current combo is the Rotel RC 1070/RB 1080.
Does this seem a sensible upgrade as Bryston is known to manufacture great power amps? Would the above combo match with my speakers ? The bryston...
