Just bought 683 and dented it...

I am new to the forum and have a question for you guys. I just picked up a pair of the 683's and while I was setting it up I removed the from grill and my hand pushed in the silver cone. I tried to pop it out but it just made it worse...

Will this come out on its own or any ideas how to get it to pop back out?

    Thanks.

I tried the tape but had no luck, it wasn't sticky enough. I might go and buy some stronger tape and give it a try.

On most B&W's, the tweeter diaphragm is a separate (and inexpensive) part of the tweeter. Might call and ask how much a replacement would be.

I dented my tweeter on my 601S3.

Well actually my girlfriend dented it, but if the Series 4 is anything like the tweeter on the S3 if you take the tweeter apart (3 screws IIRC) you can pull out the aluminum cone.

Gently, and I do mean gently, push on the back side of the tweeter metal and work the dent out of the cone.

If it isn't the tweeter, if it is the woofer, and the tape doesn't work try using a sweeper. Sometimes the suction can pull dents out of metal cones.

Just remembered something else. If it is in the tweeter and you take it apart B&W uses ferrofluid to cool the tweeter. Try to not get it on your hands, it is messy and rather toxic.

You said cone. Is it the tweeter or one of the woofers that you dented?

Try using a drinking straw to create suction to be able to pull dent out. I had luck with this on a JBL tweeter once.

It is the tweeter, the silver cone part.

I am going to give the tape another try, I tried to push in on the sides but it just made it worse...the speakers were less then an hour old when I dented it but they do sound a 100x better then my LM1's I had before.

                    Hello all,

I've been using my 685 as my center for 2+ years now along with my 683 fronts. I've moved to a different apartment recently and I''m going to be sitting very close to my 50" 9G Kuro now (around 6-7 ft max). Since it's well known that the HTM61 sounds bad uplocse, it's...

                    685 + 683, but keep my NAD?
                    by corey
Hello all, I may be adding a pair of 683's to my set up and was wondering if you all thought it was a bad move. I currently have a NAD 356BEE powering a pair of 685's. Would the NAD be able to run both the 685s and 683s? Should I try and sell the 685s? Should I not buy the 683s? Your thoughts ...

                    Hello all,

I have a pair of B&W 683s that are 18 months old and I am considering upgrade. I could go to CM9 but can afford the 804 Diamonds. I have a Cambridge Audio system - Azur 840C CD player/840A Integrated Amp/840W power amp. My room is about 9 x 5 x 4m. I listen to a broad range...

How to replace a dented B&W CM-4 speaker tweeter diaphragm
                    by bnieman
I just replaced my CM-4 tweeter diaphragm and thought others may benefit from my experience.

Here are my modified directions from Eric at B&W on how to disassemble the tweeter:

                    1. Remove grille, remove the 6 silver posts that the grill attaches too. Simply unscrew these...
