I'm thinking of upgrading the RA-1062 to a pre-amp/power-amp combination but have not decided on the exact specs. We auditioned the RC-1070/RB-1072 combi but this was exactly no difference to the RA-1062 at our listening levels (Volume at a bit over "9 o'clock") and we were tight on the budget so we went with the RA-1062 because we got the offer to upgrade in the first 12 months for no extra cost.

I guess I will have a hard standing against my wife, if one component is not Rotel because of the design, which will differ from the Rotels ... not that she likes the Rotel design so much, but mixing with others: hard.

May latest thoughts were on a Rotel pre-amp (RC-1082) and Bryston power-amp (2B SST). But that is a looooong way to go. Right now, filling up the savings is priority one.

what did you mean by upgrade for no extra cost. upgrade to any model? where did you get this offer? ra1062 is my target now. but $850 is a little bit expensive. i got a price from a Toronto dealer at $650(over the phone). he said can be cheaper when i come to the store.

Upgrade to any model, just paying the price difference to that model. Sounds of Music, Calgary. We haven't tested the offer just yet but probably will.

We have not decided where the upgrade should go, probably changing the integrated to a pre-/power-amp combo. Maybe Rotel, maybe Classe (but I think that is way to expensive), maybe a Rotel pre and Bryston power amp.

The $650 is probably a good price now that even Canadian dealers see the USD drop so much ... we bought our stuff with the Canadian $ being not as high as it is right now.
