spikes from 804's going through carpet to floor

I moved my 804 speakers from their spot on my area rug and noticed that the spikes had gone through the rug and put some small holes into my hardwood floor. I had my speakers previously on my area rug sitting on top of quarters but they seemed too unstable on top of the coins.

Is there anything else that I can put the speaker spikes on top of to protect the hardwood floor underneath them or is there something I should put under the area rug above the hardwood floor to act as a buffer between the 2 surfaces?

    Thanks for any tips :T

I use these soundcare super spikes on all my speakers and they work great. Very stable.

Simply put vinyl tiles between the carpet and hardwood floor.

Moving my 804's from carpet to hardwood floor
        by SPACEMANRICK
We are moving houses and my B&W 804 speakers will be moving from carpet to oak hardwood floors. I have the spikes on the bottom of the speakers now but I assume that these will damage my hardwood floor. What do other forum members suggest that I put my speakers on to protect the oak hardwood floor?...

        by Race Car Driver
I have an older house, and recently found out there are hardwood floors under the carpet in my living room.
Im thinking I may end up yanking the carpet and refinishing them after the snow thaws. (twas a high of -6 deg today with a -37 windchill..... )

        Now my question is...

        Question about spikes.
        by wmilas
Whats the REAL story with these things. I know they are supposed to isoltate the speaker from floor vibrations or some such. What do they really do?

        1) What exactly are they supposed to isolate from? Why does this matter? The only thing I can assume is transference of low level energy...

I am about to re-setup my HT after renovations to the room my HT is in. The new floor is a laminate floor ( like Pergo ).
I have spikes on my sub, and main speakers. I need to figure a way to protect the floor from the spikes.
I saw somewhere hardwood floor protectors for spikes advertised...
