already have a pair 603 now to complete surround with...

i'm listening stereo with my 603's and happy with them. now i want to complete my center and rears with 600 series.

for the center i have 2 choices as you already know.
    LCR60 and LCR600

and for the rear i'd like to go with either 600 S3 or 601 S3.

i searched the forum for a while and found out that LCR600 is the one to go with for the center as center speaker is important for a HT setup.

but for the rear i have no clue and no experience with 600 and 601.

i'd like to hear your opinions on this Ht setup with 603's i already have.

Right now I have the LCR60 and 601 S3's for the rears, if I were to do it again I would go with the LCR600 and the 600 S3's for the rears, unless your listening to multi-channel music (SACD, DVD-A) the money is better spent towards the LCR600 center

I have the 603s3's w/lcr600 center which is the better matching center. My surrounds i'm going to get the 600s3's since they can be mounted. The 601's may be a better choice but either would do.Of course this also depends if i'm going to upgrade or not.

curious to know why you would opt for the smaller 600's for the rear in place of your current 601's?

Reason i ask is, I'm contemplating on getting a temp. set of rears.

I don't listen to multi-channel music and don't feel that there would be a big difference between 601's and 600's for Movies, I think the money would have been better spent in getting the better center channel (LCR600). One of the main reasons I have the 601's in the rear was because I was contemplating between them and the 602's for my front speakers so I bought the 601's to give them a extended audition but in the end decided to buy the 602's for the fronts and use the 601's for the rear which didn't leave me enough in my budget to go for the LCR600 center so I went for the LCR60 which I haven't been too happy with and I'm currently thinking about swapping it out for a LCR600. So basically if I had to do it all over again I would have went for the 600's in the rear, the LCR600 center, and of course the 602's.

You should definitely get the LCR600 for the center as you said. The rears would depend on if you plan on wall mounting them. The DM600 has a keyhole on the back of it for wall mounting and the DM601 does not. If you're not going to wall mount it than get the DM601. The DM601 has a bigger midrange (sound) and is better in terms of dynamics. The DM600 can sound a little "thin" with speakers like the DM603 and the LCR600.

thank you for the quick responses guys. as a new member of this forum i'm pretty happy that i'm part of HTGuide.

so it's decided and going with LCR 600 and DM601 -i'm not gonna wallmount rears-

so last issue about stand for rears. do you think that i should go with original B&W stands for bookshelfs or get something else. note that i'm not be able to find all brands over here as i live in istanbul, Turkiye but we do have universal big brands.

Find whatever stand you think looks good. That doesn't have to be B&W's stands... Just make sure the height of the stands puts the tweeter about ear level.

Good choice on the 600 and 601!!! :T

I've finally decided to move to 5.1 instead of stereo hi-fi, so bought an AVR1804 (6x90W) and 602 fronts and 601 surrounds. I have a 6x5m room half open on 1 side, high ceiling, hard tiles. I listen to 90% music / 10% movies, at low levels (just enough to hear all the sounds). I have always been against...

I initially decided to go with 601 S3 with LCR60 center but I figured afford just a bit more for better sound. This then became a dilema.

So I decided to step up to the 603 S3 floorstands. These however are better matched with the larger LCR600 centers. The problem is that this size center...

I've been slowly compiling my B&W collection for the past few months now, and i'll soon begin saving for an external amp. Right now my reciever is an HK AVR-230 and i do NOT want to change it (recently purchased, and i am happy with its features).
