    which surround speakers?

Looks like i'm finally going to be able to upgrade my current surrounds to compliment my 603s3's and lcr600.My question is i have 2 options the 600s3's or ds6.Would appreciate any insight which would be the better option.I'm using a rotel rsx1056 as well as a denon 2200 sacd/dvda and tosh hda1.thanks

Well, I have both, and I prefer the DS6 in dipole mode. Of course, some people aren't happy with the dipole sound, so it's definitely a preferential thing, and the room can make a difference as well.

Note, that the nice thing about the DS6 is that you can switch to mono mode for 5.1 music, turning the DS6 into a sealed version of the 600s3. Of course, the 600s3 is much cheaper... so you might consider possibly going 601s3 vs DS6s3.... With the 601's being much better for music than the DS6... but IMO, the DS6 wins for the surround factor in dipole mode.

      :agree:

I like the flexibility the DS6 can give you.

I went with the 600 S3 because I am going to build a second stereo only system and a system for my son, so I looked at it as a good opportunity for the upgrade path, as I get better surrounds, I move the replaced one to one of the other areas mentioned as I assume the trade in value for this product that isa a few years old would be fairly low so it is easier to build other systems, IMO!

          B&W dipole vs. bookshelf as surrounds [DS3 vs 685, DS7 vs 705. DS8 vs 805]
          by videophile
Please help me decide on which surround speakers to get: DS3 or 685? I have B&W 683, HTM61, Velodyne CHT-12R, Rotel RSP-1066 and Rotel RMB-1075. [I'm sure the question can apply to DS7 vs. 705 and DS8 vs. 805]

I know that dipole speakers produce more diffused sound as compared to...

Freq response and DS7 surround speakers
          by Pez
I am looking to add the DS7 suuround speakers to my 705 and HTM7 setup but was concerned about the frequency response. Most of my HT usage is movies and when used in dipole mode the upper end of teh DS7 is only rated to 10 kHz as opposed to 20 kHz that most speakers are listed at. Based on the description...

          Crossover settings
          by newguy987
This could be a noobie question, however I'm going to ask it anyways. There seems to be a little bit of confusion when it comes to Ideal crossover settings. I Understand that when you select "large" for speaker size, that the speaker receives the full signal(20htz-20khz), and that when you...

Dipole Surround Speaker Design Help Please
          by rickp15
I am wanting to build 2, (dipole/bipole?) surround speakers for my HT room (side wall mounted). My question is should build a V design like Klipsch and others make or would it be better to have the speakers firing directly at the front and rear walls?

I am also building rear wall monopole...

          Surround speakers, need help choosing
          by TommyV
Well I need to get some bipole/dipole type surround speakers to replace my directional surrounds I was using before. Unfortunately I cannot afford the B&W DS3s I want ($850/pair) so I was looking at some other options.

What I want is a speaker that works well with an 80Hz crossover...
