    805s and Rotel 1057

First post, thanks for the great forum.

I have over several years tried to pull the trigger on a good surround sound system and music system that I can afford and enjoy for many many years. In the past I start out with a certain price point in mind and over the course of my research move to a price point that is beyond my reach. I am going to try to avoid this dilemma this time around. Maybe you can help.

I want to try to stay around $6000 (not including TV and DVD) and if I can locate and feel comfortable buying used, then that is OK (although I am a little uncomfortable buying expensive things from people I do not have any way of knowing or having any recourse against). Both music and movies are important to us.

I have always been impressed with the B&W line of speakers and they have always ended up being my ultimate choice. For now I am looking at the 805s speakers and a Rotel 1057 receiver. Questions?

Center channel, sub and rear channel recommendations (5.1 system)?

    Wires needed?

Last and most important, where is the best place to buy this equipment? I don't mind ordering if it will save me some money. Here in southwest Missouri we don't have many choices in dealers.

    Thanks for your help.

B&W is very anti-mail order, so just use their dealer locator to find what works for you.

You'll definitely want some kind of sub, though don't feel compelled to go with B&W in that department.

You have the option of SCM or DS8 for your surrounds, depends if you like Dipole or not, which tends to be a personal preference one way or the other.

The HTM3S is s a nice center, but from a price standpoint, you might want to go with the HTM4S.

HTM4s for center and for rears, I would say matching 805S

For sub i recommend a Velodyne SPL1000R, or SPL1200R. Amazing subs!

Center Speaker Question; HTM4S or 805S?
        by sskim
I'm in need of a center speaker to match 805S. Question is what is the best match for 805S? Is there a noticeable difference between HTM4S and HTM2? Since I'm on tight budget does anyone see problem matching HTM2 with 805S? I also read that having three identical speakers for front L/C/R is the...

My Pocket Rocket; A High Performance 805S Based Alternative
        by Karma
        HI All,
I’m in the midst of an experiment. The HT system I am currently putting together is for my bedroom. It’s now mostly finished and I must say it sounds very good. Here is the essence of the experiment.

Can I use a good bookshelf speaker (the 805S) and a good subwoofer...

What to do with htm4s and 603s3?
        by Djas_Puhr
        Hey everyone,

I've been pondering this problem for a while now and I thought I'd open up the discussion to the htguide community.

I'm in the middle of converting my basement into a sweet listening room! Unfortunately, since I'm doing the labour myself, the project is eating...

First Impression of 805S and Classe CAV-75
        by sskim
I've been using ROTEL RSX1057 to drive 805S with SVS PB12+. Even though I've been happy with 1057, I've always thought 805S 'deserved' a bit more than 75wpc. Last week I had an opportunity to buy a mint conditioned used Classe CAV75, at a great price and I took the plunge. My plan was to bridge it...
