If I'm using my speakers almost purely for HT, would it make much sense to move up to a higher end series? I'm sure it would sound better, but does it make much sense/
Moving from 600 series to 700 or 800

Depends on your budget, and your tastes...
From a HT only perspective, 600 series is the best bang for your buck... Some people have issues with 700 in a HT environment (mainly due to the center channel)
But for the expense of the 800 series, is it worth it to you? would a new DISPLAY make more sense?- Bottom

I agree, the 600 series offer a great HT experience. The 800 series is the only real upgrade solution for surround sound (if you listen to alot of music as well) since only the 800 series has FST center speakers.
Maybe think about a nice projector instead?

Charles, I ended up with the HTM1 ($1500) as the Center with a set of 703 fronts and it worked out well.
It is not a perfect solution, but it was a nice sound. I still use the HTM1 now that I moved to 803S on the front. Again, a nice match but not perfect. ;-)- Bottom

dmccombs, your exactly right, HTM1 would have been as good and less money. I knew I was in route to upgrade the 703's to 803's at the time so opted for the HTM3. The HTM1 is pretty much the same speaker and would have worked out great. I suspect it would serve well with the 803's without having to make another upgrade. Maybe not perfect, but I would bet close enough.- Bottom

by RebelManSeveral posts around the forum got me thinking about the popularity of the different B&W series of speakers. I believe of the three primary series (600, 700 and 800) the 600 series is by far the most popular. by audioquesoI'm currently using a pair of 600 S3 speakers as temporary rears for watching HT. I am thinking about getting a pair of DS6/DS3 to wall mount, but I can't compare which series, S3 or S4, matches the Nautilus series better. I would like to know which series of 600 series speakers would be a better...-

by AntonkkFrankly I don't care much for all this media player stuff so my main concern is tradition audio. Is the new 800 preamp better than the good ole 700? I think I can buy a used 700 for the same price as the new 800 only 700 was made in Canada while 800 is China made.-
