    amp for my 804S...

I'm ready to spend about 1000.- 1200. for used amp. I'm having trouble finding Bryston 4B ST, in that price range on Audiogon. I was looking forward to getting maybe Rotel 1090, but with some isues that people reporting I'm not shure I want to deal with any later on.
What other options that I have with in that price range and something that will last ? :>
Right now I'm running it throught Rotel 1057... thanks.

The Krell 400xi is a relative bargain and would work very well, and last.

In that range I would look at the Parasound A21. I am not sure what kind of sound you like but the A21 does a good job of producing smooth, coherent sound. I actually upgraded from the RB-1080 for my 804S. By the way, due to even more upgraditis, I am now upgrading my amps as well so I will be selling my A21. Let me know if you are interested.

I like the warmer sound, I have been mostly looking at Bryston due their warranty, but now will be looking at krell/ classe with in my price range.

Take a look at the new BelCanto S300 and S300i amps.

I used to have a Musical Fidelity A308CR amp driving my 804's and it sounded great.
I noticed the A308's going for around $1800-2000 on Audiogon---might be worth a look if you can stretch your budget.

In that price range and to run 804s I would stick with Rotel as you will get the largest bang for the buck you are willing to cough up!!!
Try the 1090 or 1092 by Rotel if you are part of the 2 channel world, and the 1095 if you are one of those Multichannel / HT supporters.
I personally would recommend the 1095, beacuse it sounds very warm and smooth with lots of dynamics and soundstage with crispy details.
If you can splurge more then you will have to double or triple the amount you want to pay for to get something that would out do these Rotels. And to out do them by only a tad of a percent, which would mean you will lget a slight improvement with triple the amount of $$$$ to make it sound a bit better than those Rotels.
              Cheers and good luck.

I have a Krell and it shure does not have a warm sound, it have many atributes but no warm, try McIntosh, I have some for my sorrounds and I love them! I hear some bryston and they sound also great but if you are looking for warmth that's not the way. Classse and McIntosh will do, or if you want very hot try Tubes!
These are just my opinions, and remember that what for me could be warmth for someone could be other thing, so this is just in my poor experience, my opinion!

I'm still thinking about 1090 and for my price range I have seen them there. Bryston, I'm in Canada and they 45 min. from where I live. If I can find Mac or Classe with in rouphly my price range I'll defanatly pick it up.
I'm more and more music than HT and for center and rears my Rotel 1057 does the job, but for the fronts once I get to 65 and up.... music just doesn't sound same, it almost falling apart.

I would recommend it only for stereo. In a multichannel set up low impedance speakers will tax it capabilities very quickly. That certainly was the case with my XT system.

would be well worth considering too for the B&W I reckon.

Talking about power to 804's, would an Arcam AVR 200 receiver power these speakers. Rated at 5x75 or 2x90 running through AQ Slate. I do not play them loud just looking for some high quality for enjoying Dianna Krall - Good Canadian Girl that she is....

I would stick with Rotel power for that money range. But, if I was you I would save a bit longer and go with something Classe. I have to say it's one of my favorite combinations.

I see many different opinions on this setup. Some say it is bright some say it is great. For those of you that have critically listened to 804S and 400xi setup does it tend to lean towards the bright side and if so does it become real fatiguing or is it just a very sweet sounding set up?
