Ok, after months and months of research and listening to almost everything under the sun, I have finally (well kinda) decided on my HT set up.
B&W 802D
B&W HTM2D
B&W DS8S
B&W ASW855
Classe CA3200 (Upgrade from Rotel RMB1095)
Classe CA2200
Meridian G98
Meridian G68
So, all done and ready to roll, wife approved so off to the dealer I went. And then the Meridian dealer says "well, you should get the Meridian speakers as they sound better than the 802s and I think the 802s are overpriced for what they are, plus Meridian is the granddaddy of digital speakers, plus all the built in amplification and blah, balh (tuned out after that)" to which I replied that I really liked the natural, clean sound of the B&W. Of course, when I listened to them they were playing through all Classe electronics, including the pre/pro and the DVD/CD player. So, my question is, has anyone has any experience with the Meridian gear? I have only heard them through Meridian speakers and they sound quite good, but to me a bit clinical. I do however like the feature set on the pre pro and that they are at the forefront of the new lossless formats being used for Dolby HD, but I still prefer the sound of the 802D, to me a lot more presence and forward sound, and tweeters that you do not hear. Interested in your thoughts/opinions. Thanks
