Experts in the field of wife justification needed

Ok gentlemen, we need some real world experience and advice justifying the purchase of a pair of 800D's to the wife for our good friend misterdoggy. I know we brothers here at the B&W forum have the most experience and best wisdom the world has to offer on this matter.

    I'll be happy to start off;

"Honey, my other choice is the Vonschiekert VR-10 Mk II. It costs 55,000 more than the B&W's and is twice as big. Which one do you think I should get?"

Similar to Jesse's idea, if you can't find a pic of the Vonschiekert VR-10 Mk II then show her a pic of the Avantgarde Trio Classico horn-loaded loudspeaker system + Basshorns. Should have the same effect. Of course ... if she (for whatever reason) prefers these over the 800D's ... then you have a PROBLEM

Simple, buy her something shiny (even if it costs half the price!) IMO if you are the breadwinner you're entitled to toys that are twice as expensive as the wife's If she's contributing to the purchase you'd better start kissing some butt pronto!

                    Hell, show her a pic of a pair of Matrix 800 series, and say you were thinking of those, because they're older (cheaper) (;

Alrighty.... How to hoodwink the missus....

                      It's easy....

Just buy them. Send her and her best friend/sister/mother to a spa for the weekend - as a 'special treat for being a great wife or something' when you're expecting delivery..... Should not be too big a problem in the south of France!

Here for example = http://www.royalparcevian.com/ (Been there - nice!)

Next..... Install them. Go crazy! Enjoy the weekend.... Just make sure you get rid/hide in a friends garage or whatever - of the 802s before she gets back!

Finally, when she gets home - say nothing! Different speakers? Nope! They're bigger?! What did they do to your eyes at the spa?!

If she buys it - doubtful but great(and perhaps worrying!)! If not... well fess up..... But they can't go back and you managed to get a fantastic trade deal on the 802s but you could not get her on the phone to discuss as she was in a mud bath or something! You could not let such an amazing deal go by - there and then!

Better to ask forgiveness than permission!!!!

And the brownie points built up from weekend in a swanky spa will make it all a little easier....

I did a little somthing like this when I got my Kharmas!

I say lie about how much the "upgrade" really costs..."oh babe, it was not that much more to upgrade and besides I not only got a great price on the 802d which I sold but also on the 800d so we won on both side". believe it or not, this has worked for me for about a year now.

This was my idea. She will never know the difference. Just get the same finish.

I replaced a small pair of black JBL's with much larger walnut JBL monitors in an exercise room and my wife didn't even notice. Even though they complain, they really do not notice the difference.

If the spa has a similar name to the audio dealer you can tell her the spa was very expensive if she sees the bill.

Alloroc, you are one devious, sneaky son of a gun. God love ya brother. My wife would see through that whole scam in a second. But like you say, it would get the 800's in the house and the gesture would be so thoughtful she'd forgive me. I'm gonna keep that one in the vault for an extreme emergency.

I find that women respond well to sales. It does not matter how much something costs, or even how much it is marked up for, just so long as it is on sale.

I know women who will buy a nuclear submarine on sale.

Buy them, then tell her that they were double the price you paid and were on sale because they ordered the wrong color finish (speaker) for thier showroom, now they clash with the backwall and do not match the drapes....see where I am gong with this?

Well Guys thanks for all the suggestions

I may have come up with an idea. She doesn't like me riding around on my Moto and she can understand that the money from the moto can go where-ever I want...

Question is.... I don't ride my BMW R100S much anyhow, but for 40 years I've always had a Motorcycle......

I use it just to go to town and back when its summer season because people come from all over the world to the lake and you can't move.

I could buy a 250cc little something just to get to town as the Beemer is overkill for my use.

Actually a lot like 800D's with 436's are overkill

I actually don't need the money from the sale, but its the justification that is needed to spend what I want.

Tell her you have a strong feeling the 800d's could be the last pair of speakers you buy.

Or, you could just tell her what you want and be honest with her.

Been down that exact same road. Sold my Harley Roadking. Had to reduce the size of the toy box a bit. Selling the bike gave me all kinds of justification. The wife just hated seeing me sacrifice so much. I pouted around the house a few days getting whatever I wanted. Wives love to see a good man suffer just a little bit once in awhile.

Go for it. And milk it for whatever it's worth. Possibly a new pair of 800D's?

I thought about that once. The next thing I knew, I gotta back hand upside the head. The wife said "that's your first mistake, thinking about it."

How she knew that thought crossed my mind I'll never know and ain't askin. I reckon she could tell just by the way I was looking at the hard cover B&W brochure at the time.

Jesse doesn't think those thoughts anymore.

                                                      Jesse,

Sorry to hear about the loss of your Harley Roadking. One of my first bikes was a Harley Panhead completely chromed out teardrop tank. I had a beautiful bike but holes in my clothes, and no place to live

I remember going to the movies to see easyrider with a buddy in 1969, I was 21 and and we came out of the theater with our rides parked directly in front. All the girls were looking, I thought I was some kind of hero, trying to act cool.

I kicked started the beast, made a few loud rev's, and peeled some rubber as I left to the tune of Steppenwolfs "Born to be Wild". :T
