Would you run your 800 series on this amp?

    Hi,

Im looking into getting a custom made amplifier with the following specifications:

185 Watts RMS into 8 Ohms
275 Watts RMS into 4 Ohms
Frequency Response: 2hz to 160khz (Input Filter Limited)
    Power Bandwidth 2Hz - 500khz -3dB Filter Limited
    Damping Factor 400
    Input Impedance 34k Ohms
Input sensitivity for full power out into 8 Ohm load 900mv
    Distortion: 0.008% THD

With a few tweaks it will hit 200rms @ 8 ohms.

    What do you think?

    Running 803s/805s/htm3s?

Impossible to say. Those specs are adequate as far as they go but unless you try it (or get someone to put it on the bench), who knows?

Just curious Nick. Why are you getting a custom made amp? Nothing out there that hits your sweet spot? Lot's to choose from out there with real world feedback and support.

        Hi,

Well I have based my specs on the Classe range of products and trying to get something as close to that. I can build a 5 channel/200rms amp for about $3500AU compared to the classe which is $20,000AU

        Numbers tell it all.

But can you return it for a refund within 30 days?

If so, you are good to go.

                  Hi Nick,
Decent enough specs as far as they go. But you can't tell too much from specs on a piece of paper. Has it been measured by someone who knows what they're doing? Do you know what the architecture of the amp is? What type of feedback and how much? More importantly, have you heard one of these things? If not, do you know anyone who has? Who makes the kit? It could be a real good value.

                  Good luck!
                  Jeff

McIntosh 501's. So far they are proving to be up to the task. If I take them up to the limit it is incredible. True live performance beyond anything I've ever heard. The 800D's and the Macs stay rock solid at 500 watts and perform flawlessly.

Hey all, newb on this forum, but I know you guys may have some answers for me.

I am starting to look at ideas for a Senior EE project for this coming year, and I have really always been interested in speaker design. I'm pretty positive the whole project would be enough work to constitute...

buttkicker amp at 8 ohms anybody?
                      by matt12v
Does anybody know how much power the buttkicker amp outputs @ an 8 ohm load. Is it not recommended to use it at 8 ohms? I am running it on 1 TC-2000 dual 4 ohm 15" but I dont exactly want to run 2000w rms @ 2 ohms into it lol. Any suggestions? Thanks

625 watts RMS on Nautilus 802s?
                      by Race Car Driver
Was doing some searching around on the net, and found a Sunfire amp that is rated at 625 W RMS X 2.
Not that I have any intention on purchasing this or pushing that much power to the N802s.. But got me wondering.
Since the reccomended power for these speakers is 500 watts RMS.. Would the...

Anyone look at the technical specs for these speakers? I was just browsing through B&W's website and took a look at these speakers. They have listed the nominal impedence of these speakers as being 0.1 Ohms. That's got to be a typo. The only amp that would be able to drive those things would...
