Is the cheep PVC industrial look becoming vogue? I guess if you get tired of it you could always keep as a backup incase your sewer pipe breaks.

Somebody is going to be shot for releasing that factory photo...

Actually it kind of has to be seen to be understood, although it probably won't do a huge quantity in the USA - it sounds amazing.

Uugh... I can't believe that photo is floating around out there... (long story)

So you've heard it? What makes it's sound so amazing? Does the sound compare to any other model? Do they consider it a step up over the 800D? Fact is, if it really sounds that good, I could put the looks aside. To me, bottom line is sound.

It doesn't look like it could possible have near the technology as the 800D. But looks can certainly be decieving.

                          C'mon Andrew, give it up.

Maybe it was leaked on purpose to do just what it is doing in this forum.

That god awful pinky/salmon color adds insult to ingury.

Unusual looks yes, but I'd still like to hear it.

"Dude! Your speakers totally match my iPod! Sweet! Dude, plug my iPod in, we can totally listen to the lossless audiophile tracks I downloaded from iTunes! I'm so totally glad I didn't get the black and red U2 one! Is B&W a division of Apple?"

Good Lord, no! I think we deserve better than this!

I suggest you turn this thread into a poll and let B&W lovers come up with a moniker for the new B&Ws (please tell me this is a joke! PLEASE!!!)

While I like the "sewer pipes", the "trash compactors" and the "Commodes", and see the resemblance to "Bender", the fact that B&W OBVIOUSLY spent a lot of money and research on the science of sound, makes me personally think they look more like "Beakers":

A matching Dr. Bunsen Honeydew subwoofer would complete the picture:

However, since it's really about music, maybe Kid 'n' Play would be better monikers:

Left and right are for losers any way. Now you've got your Kid and your Play!

Unfortunately, since it's obvious B&W has sold out to Mr. Jobs, I guess the natural choice is the "iNauts" or the "iTrix".

If the poll idea works, maybe B&W can throw in a matching iPod for the winner. It shouldn't be hard to come by as part of Steve's empire.

B&W in the past have said that the technology dictates the external form. If that is the case and the dust master sounds amazing, does it really matter if it looks like a periscope from a mini sub? I guess it does if you want to sell speakers in bulk in what appears (from this thread at least) to be a conservative market.

In the right living rooms this could actually look quite cool. Anyone on this forum live in one of those trendy inner city factory conversions with fabulous wooden floors and exposed brickwork etc etc. These guys would look right at home. In a more traditional living room it would only be the more hard core or "in the know" audiophile that would consider speakers with this look.
Maybe B&W should consider different finishes such as a shiny black finish or the birdseye signature look or maybe even something personalised (considering the cost) and genuinely arty. Yup, I reckon they could shift quite a few units in black.

                                                            Let the stoning commence :
                                                            Mac 8gb SSD Audirvana ->Weiss INT202 firewire interface ->Naim DAC & XPS2 DR->Conrad Johnson CT5 & LP70S-> Vivid B1s. Nordost Valhalla cables & resonance management. (Still waiting for Paul Hynes PS:M)

I think the woofer measured about 61 inches and put out 160 db at 16hz. Bascially the seals around the sunroof gave way before the car even came close to "exploding".

It must be something fabricated by B&W to pave the way for something great, wich I'm shure is the next (snail) nautilus!
